She'll be 9 just before Christmas so need to think about her birthday too.

She doesn't play with toys (other than lego), or dolls etc and hasn't for years. She isn't interested in clothes or make up. She loves reading, art and crafts, origami, gymnastics and animals.

Looking for big/main present ideas as it's easy to buy small gifts for her. Something that will match up to the big box (small price tag) gifts her younger brother will get.

I was thinking a ticket to a show, vouchers, magazine subscription etc would all be great ideas but looking for something she can enjoy on the day.

What have been big hits with your 9 year olds?

Instax camera

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 22:48

Bat detector!

Instax Camera is a great idea, thank you. And bat detector, I think DS would love that!

I'm looking into shows, but we're a long way from London and really thinking about something that she can use on the day.

My dd (9 in jan) sounds similar. We are getting her a kindle paperwhite and harry potter lego. Does she like harry potter? She got a knex set and some science sets last year which she likes. Also think of possibly getting a wii for the family me she loves board games too- something like cranium or articulate, the jr version may be fun on the day

I have the same type of daughter. Doesn't play with anything but still wants stuff to do on the big day.

Last year a WWF subscription went down well, so I'll be doing another of those. Also a slime making set... I hate the stuff, but it's only Xmas once a year and the inlaws can clean up

DD has just turned 10
Things she’s uses a lot

Fold out gym beam
Bar that fits in door frame
Gym mat
Head phones for tablet
Proper art set with different grade pencils etc

She would love Harry Potter Lego

How about a scrapbook and some acessories: glue gun, washi tape, paper cutters etc?
would also work with the camera to make memories

Thanks all, some brilliant ideas! Santa could maybe bring slime Wink

Whar do you mean by big main present or small, because it could mean different to other people. I don't think their need a main present for rhe sake of it, mine get a bigger pile of medium priced gifts if they aren't requesting something like a bike/tech

My daughter loves gymnastics and has asked for mats and bars. Maybe price them up x

PaulMorel · 18/09/2018 10:53

Maybe a set of color pencils? It about $30.

My 9 year old is into hair and make up so ive decided to buy her a model head like they use at hair training colleges. This one has bright multi colour hair, and fixes on to table (£20 bargin). Hoping she will leave my hair alone.
Slime kit
Penny board
Also wants a phone. Im wavering

Budget? If high could you get an air mat for gymnastics? Huge hit with my gymnasts though we got an airbeam mat due to space issues. They also love the smaller gym mat- Ikea do a folding one which is cheaper but most gym companies also do folding ones that are a bit thicker (and more pricey!)

Other gymnastics themed gifts include new leotard, wooden handstand things to balance on, chin up bar, scrunchies, wristbands, hand guards...

Again budget related but popular option might be a hover board?
