Both DS and DD have been really limited with space for toys this last year, but will have a bit more space by Christmas as we are moving in a week or two and will gain a playroom - I'd like to spoil them a bit as it's been a hard year.... so, what big presents are you buying for 3yo girl and 5yo boy?

I was thinking along these lines;

DD (3)

Play kitchen
Dolls House and accessories

DD (5)

Really into trains - have 5yo's outgrown Brio or will he still enjoy it?

Big playmobil playset, probably an airport or something

Anything else or better ideas?

I have a DS who is 5 and he loves Brio still and plays with it regularly. He has some playmobil, including a pirate ship, but doesn't play with it as much. You could get a lego train set for him?

I'm giving my 5yo son a Playmobil pirate ship with a couple of the add-on pirate sets and a wooden castle with Papo knights & horses as his big presents. He doesn't play with trains anymore. Every kid is different! I think your ideas are great!

My five year old (6 at Christmas) has gone off his Brio trainset, but loves a Playmobil one that my brother found second-hand. It is big, but remote controlled (very basic) and forms the centre of his Playmobil world.

if he likes trains what about a train table? my ds loved his

We have a battery powered Thomas train that runs on the brio track - would he like that? No idea where it came from mind you!

egdehsdrawkcab · 17/09/2018 09:54

I think battery powered brio sounds ideal - he's talking about a proper model railway but think that's a bit too advanced for a 5yo!

Any other ideas for DD, turning 3? Any good pony's that have a rider who actually stays on the pony?!

If I had the space, I would buy my dcs one of those cardboard play castles/rockets/shops from hobbycraft that you colour in - would the 3yo like that?

Never seen or heard of those Universaltruth but they sound fab
