Struggling for 10 year old dd

I have no clue what to get her! She has an iPad and recently got a Chromebook from school. She's not really into anything in particular and for the last few years has just asked for a surprise. School is really tough for her so she wouldn't appreciate books as this would seem like chore to her! Any ideas would be gratefully received!

hard when they are not into anything, and I hate spending money on something as you have to get them a present but not something they actually ask for or want, how about tickets for a show or concert / boyband something to look forward to later in year? or panto if you don't usually go for one , does she like going to cinema or horseriding lessons or something that you could get her a membership too, just trying to think outside the box here, is she beginning to get into clothes she might feel real grown up getting a voucher for a shop with a promise she gets to pick what she wants, and you could put together a little stocking of gifts so she has things to unwrap, at that age my daughter wanted a phone or camera

One of those flicker scooters? I got one for my dds 10th bday and she loves it!

snowmanshoes · 13/09/2018 19:43

Second the instax mini and/or flicker scooter. My dd has had both of these in the past at a similar age and enjoyed both and still uses them at nearly 13!

It's a tough age!

Does she like music? Echo dot, headphones or a Bluetooth speaker?

DS really likes making movies with his iPad - he's getting a little tripod and green screen for that.

Tickets to a west end show or similar?

Fitbit type thing?

I love that little camera, that will be going on the list! It's harder the older they get, I also have a 4 and 6 year old and could buy loads for them. The tickets is a great idea, I will have a look to see what's on. Granny always buys everyone Panto tickets.

Dd is 10 and has asked for a digital camera, clothes, vouchers (a big hit!), books, a necklace & chocolate! Oh and art stuff! X

Something for her bedroom- Cool fairy lights, big beanbag chair, old-fashioned desk with little cubbyholes stocked with art/school supplies, pretty lamp, etc

A new board game, or a game like Twister

A popcorn air-popper, waffle maker, sandwich toaster, or other fun cooking item

Pressuredrip · 14/09/2018 11:42

My daughter was 10 last year and got:
Anime box set (sailor moon)
Harry Potter bedding
Graphics tablet for drawing on PC
Lava lamp
Japanese sweet hamper
Pokemon DS games
Pokemon rucksack

This year it will be more Pokemon stuff, more Pokemon DS games, manga and graphic novels, northern lights projector, Beanie Boo mini figures OR a Nintendo switch and one game and nothing else. She's still deciding.

What is she into? What about an instrument? New bed? Bike? Karaoke machine? Games console?

I looked on this thread because my own DD will be 10 around Christmas time but she doesn't even have any of the cool things that yours does!

Can I ask is she Year 5 or 6? I'm starting to think mine is a bit unsophisticated 😆Haha!

One thing I think I'm going to get for my bunch (ranging from 7 - 20 years!) is tickets to see School of Rock in London. They're all finally at the age to enjoy something like that together.

Horse riding lessons perhaps? I know mine would love that!

The instax cameras are great - but get them to be very choosy on what they snap as the films are expensive.

I'm looking forward to seeing other suggestions!

HairyToity · 14/09/2018 20:01

Zoo keeper experience for the day?

henhausfrau · 14/09/2018 21:04

Optimisticbanana mine is unsophisticated too! She's just started Year 6 and she's getting an Our Generation doll and a unicorn lamp for her 11th birthday this month. Still very much into dolls and teddies Smile

Mummysharkdoodoodoo · 14/09/2018 21:32

She’s just started year 6. She seems “grown up” on some aspects but still young in others. She loves shopping and choosing her own things. Unicorn and narwhals stuff goes down a treat! Anything with dogs on too.
