DD will be 8 next month... I feel it’s an awkward age as she feels too grown up for lots of things.

What are you getting your 8 year olds?

My 8 year old son is proving the most difficult to buy for, so far he as asked for a pair of light up Geox trainers so I will get those for him, also getting him a refurbished laptop as his main present. Other ideas include Roblox figures, Roblox Vouchers, Slime making kit, Minecraft Lego, snap circuits kit and Roblox books, annual etc

DD has asked for Harry Potter lego... I'm also getting her an 'About Me' books and a few other bits and bobs!!

My DS is 8 next month too! I agree, it’s a difficult age to buy for.

I’ve gone for Smiggle stationary in his stocking (I stocked up during the sale and hammered their 5 for £5!) as even though he’s had all new this month going back to school, it’ll look a bit tatty by Christmas. Also match attax cards, sweets and slime.

For his main presents, I’ve gone for Pokemon cards (you can get box sets on amazon), Lego Classic and Lego Ninjago, a butterfly house thing where you get the caterpillars and watch them develop into butterflies, the playmobil submarine for the bath with some sharks and octopuses and a hapless looking diver, a pair of football boots (he’s just started going training this summer), tickets to a Chelsea game between Christmas and New Year, Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu on the Switch, Pokemon Let’s Go pokeball controller (had to preorder those two!), Legend of Zelda (switch) and then some merch from his favourite YouTuber (Dan TDM? TDM Dan? I don’t know, the bloke’s an idiot) and then just some other bits and bobs. I’m trying to not twitch, but the playmobil knights castle looks amazing and DS will love it (also I really want to play with it).

Boys tend to play with toys longer though, and mine is an only child so I think he’s going to be quite a ‘young’ 8 if that makes sense, so I don’t know if that helps much.

Thanks so much, I’ve ordered the Pokemon switch game and some YouTuber merchandise too Grin

DD wants Harry Potter Lego, a wand, a handbag from river island (aka the big girl shop) and a robot. She’s also mentioned the MC2 spy bag. Plus squishies and anything glittery from smiggle.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 09/09/2018 13:55

theatre tickets, lego, various pens/stationery

I’ve found this age the easiest to buy for, it’s the older one that’s getting more difficult.

For the 8 year old I’m getting

Lego: Jurassic World Indoraptor rampage, dilophosarus outpost, city arctic mobile base
Nat Geo Dino fossil dig
Peacekeepers military base set
Harry Potter book box set
A board game of some description, he’s asked for electronic battleships. His stocking will have an MP3 player, iTunes gift card, compass, pocket telescope, top trumps, mini Newton’s cradle, probably some new “proper” colouring pencils for his art, orbeez.

I’ve had to stop myself because I could buy forever for him Blush. He’s so mature in some ways but he’s still a little boy who loves his toys especially LEGO and little figures.

My DS has asked for a waterproof camera (we are going to the Maldives next year and he wants it for this)

PurpleMac · 09/09/2018 15:13

8yo DSS has asked for Harry Potter lego. He understands that Father Christmas has a budget and that for the 2 sets he has asked for, he won't get much else other than token gift to open. He's fine with this as he will also get presents at his mum and presents from both sets of grandparents and both sets of stepgrandparents. All he wants is the lego, so that's what he's getting Smile

Pascha · 10/09/2018 11:40

DS1 will be 8 tomorrow, he's getting a kindle fire for his birthday. He's told relatives he would like nerf guns, a stunt trike, racing cars and lego speed champions (has a fair few of these already).

I have no idea what to get him for Christmas though.

Natsku · 10/09/2018 11:52

My not quite 8 year old has said all she wants for Christmas and her birthday are Littlest Pet Shop things and slime/ingredients to make slime. I'll be getting her books as well.

Justabadwife · 10/09/2018 13:37

Charlottejade89 · 10/09/2018 17:22

my youngest step son is 8 and he is having a bike. his other presents (if any) eill depend on the price of the bike he wants. Atm he is asking for a voodoo bike which is £300!

OuEstPierreLapin · 10/09/2018 18:31

Infinity War Lego

Redyoyo · 10/09/2018 20:30

Dd8 is getting a laptop as she loves writing and researching stories and i think she will get a lot out of it.

Stompythedinosaur · 10/09/2018 20:34

Dd1 is not yet 8, but is close.

She is getting a mini drone, a camera, some lego, a build your own spiro pencil kit (from hobbycraft), a spy kit (shared with her sister), a rock tumbler, a ring tailed lemurs tail and some sparkly converse. I will add some books but not sure what yet.
