Stocking Up For Christmas - Food & Drinks Bargains/Offers

I wanted to start a thread to share/keep track of food and drink bargains, to start stocking up for Christmas.

Maybe it is just me, but once the children return to school I tend to start watching out for good offers on long shelf life foods for Christmas to spread the cost and grab a few bargains.

To start off, Tesco have boxes of Matchmakers for 75p each at the moment (Orange, Mint, Caramel and Gingerbread). www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/promotions/A32487590. Valid until 11th September.

Has anyone else spotted any good offers on any Christmas necessities?

I bought a tub (Christmas decorated) Of Cadbury Heroes , but the reflex reaction that makes you rip the plastic tab off kicked in as soon as it landed on the table.

I do buy multipacks of J2O from Costco and hide them in the garage (cold , secure and locked) then bring up a few at a time.

M&S shortbread you say.......Xmas Grin

Placemarking. Great idea for a thread !!!

Isadora2007 · 08/09/2018 08:44

Morrison’s had their big tubs for £4

M and S had tins half price of biscuits and boxes too. Only some had long enough dates for gifts though.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2018 16:11

I bought some M&S shortbread the other day. It's meant to be a present, but it may not last. It was a bargain for £5 though, I thought.

great thread. I am going to start stocking up on luxuries as well as essentials to make DM a hamper.

Miladymilord · 08/09/2018 16:35

I had insomnia last night and this thread was perfect as a happy calming read!

VOU9141070 For new Ocado customers, gets 30% off and free dev for a year- apologies if it’s already been done 😃

ChristmasPlanner · 08/09/2018 17:31

I don't think we're disciplined enough (teenagers around) to buy chocolate, biscuits etc. this early. MIL buys from M&S early every year gets a bargain and then has to replace them at full price nearer Christmas.

Lidl Rhubarb and Ginger gin is the equivalent to Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger gin. It’s is the liqueur so only 20% alc where gin is 35 - 50 depending on make. The Lidl is very good though especially with Appletiser instead of tonic!

This is such a good idea. Really must do something like this. Worth checking what's on offer when I do my weekly online shop.

bimbobaggins · 08/09/2018 20:03

I usually try to pick up a few bits in my weekly shop from now on in. Just need to keep an eye on the exp dates as I’ve been caught out a couple of times and had to eat them

weaselwords · 09/09/2018 08:50

Lidl rhubarb and ginger liqueur is lovely. Very nice with prosecco. Quite sweet but not sickly. I’ve not tried the pomegranate and rose one yet. And I’ve had it for 2 whole days preens.

Various Maxim chocolates now add on items at Amazon. Nice tins for £3 - not sure of the dates though.

Moltenpink · 12/09/2018 19:32

Big choc tubs are 2 for £7 in Tesco this week

LoudBatPerson · 13/09/2018 08:48

Awesome finds. I will try and put together a list of them all when I am at home Smile

tumpymummy · 14/09/2018 17:34

The big choc tubs are £4 in Asda. Heroes, Celebrations, Roses.

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 14/09/2018 20:45

Family circle box of biscuits £2 in tescos instead of £4

MissingMo · 16/09/2018 16:30

For Shloer lovers, like me, B&M have bottles of the red grape and white grape versions for £1

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/09/2018 16:58

Morrisons had 10 bottles of J2O for £5 as of yesterday.

Momo18 · 16/09/2018 18:29

I got two boxes of the match makers to stash away too. I fill a drawer under my bed with anything and everything Christmas food.
Some weeks it's chocolate, others pringles (Aldi brand is nice), but yea tinned custard, peanuts, crackers, anything in a jar. Etc
