Facebook Lego rollercoaster scam

I'm such an idiot - I've fallen for a scam having seen a sponsored post on FB advertising a half price Lego rollercoaster. Went and ordered it without even registering that the lookalike Lego site linked to wasn't legit. It was an early morning impulse buy and I didn't want to miss the opportunity.

Had an email saying that the payment had been approved. Didn't look closely til much later yesterday when I noticed info about the debit from my account would be more, and it was only then that the alarm bells started to ring.

Anyway, the 'bargain' price of £153 is actually £221 and the site has now disappeared. I've reported my idiocy to my bank but as the payment is pending they say they can't dispute it until it's taken. Don't understand why it can't just be stopped but there we are.

Please don't be fucking stupid as me. I'm sure nobody will.

I saw this and thought what a bargain too! There were loads of likes and comments. I had another look and like you said I realised it was a very good copy site - I did comment it looked dodgy and reported it to facebook. So naughty!
I’m sure it will all get sorted for you but CF! They are paying to advertise on Facebook too so Facebook know who they are!

Get a chargeback from your bank account. Sorry this has happened to you

What's a chargeback? Can it be done after the payment is taken?

Thanks for posting. I thought I was reasonably astute about these things - what an idiot!

I saw this too, and clicked through as I thought it was a bargain - it looked like it was linked from a bargain hunters type site. It was only when I noticed the URL and that the design of the site was slightly different that I clicked off.

I'm sorry OP. Speak with your bank/card people.

@Mynameisnotsteven happened to me v recently with garden toys and I called MasterCard same say and nothing could be done initially had to wait 15days for non delivery or delivery of fake gods then make a formal claim so after 2 wks got my money back but now they have 60days to dispute and could take the money back again unlikely but possible.

Nothing useful to add OP but just wanted to say don't beat yourself up over this. It sounds like they were quite slick and I bet a lot of people were conned. Hope it gets sorted for you quickly.
