Small present for a 17 year old girl?

Does anyone have an idea for a small (£5, max £10) gift for our childminder's eldest daughter? We have always got little things for her children (along with wine and chocs for her) as they are all amazing with our dc, I am normally ok with her younger 3 kids, but never know what to get her eldest.

Last year we got her a Wreck This Journal book. Previously have got some chocolates. I imagine she'd probably prefer the cash, but that seems a bit awkward somehow.

Anyone with kids that age who can suggest something? She is very kind and polite, and is starting a childcare course at college next year.

Costa or Starbucks gift card?

sirlee66 · 02/09/2018 18:52

Nice bath bomb from lush - the galaxy one is a fave with teens.

Gift cards are a good shout. You cam never go wrong with river island or top shop for that age. Or perhaps buy her a nice handbag/scarve/small piece of jewellery

I’ve just been reading the Boots magazine you get free with your advantage card. There’s a few ideas for presents in there, one of them was a nice set of burts bees lip balms. I’m thinking of getting that for my teenage niece.

Lush bath bombs go down really well with teenage girls.

RB68 · 02/09/2018 19:38

Lush products, coffee card/voucher apple/itunes voucher or amazon gift card or paperchase vouchers go down well as well

butlerswharf · 02/09/2018 20:34

Coffee shop gift card was the first thing that popped into my head too.

NapQueen · 02/09/2018 20:35

Primark are doing their own version of a Keep Cup which would fit the budget.

Stompythedinosaur · 02/09/2018 20:47

A bath bomb is a good idea, sounds like a great token gift. I agree she'd probably prefer a gift card but I think I'd feel I needed to give £10 and it would look like a much bigger gift than the tokens I'm planning for her siblings.

perhaps you could get her a mug and fill it with sweets or marshmallows? that sort of thing.

Fstar · 03/09/2018 12:28

Face and foot mask with maybe a hair wrap from primark. All my nieces love these

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 03/09/2018 16:51

I'm going to say a nice notebook and pen. Paperchase and tiger are lovely, even saw nice bits in the poundshop or look out for when the shops reduce back to school stuff.

If she's going to college these will come in handy. Also a pretty notebook and pen always makes doing work more exciting :)

Check of the Lisa Angel sale.

I have bought woolly hats from the Joules EBay Outlet site for the same age. Funny enough I just got a delivery today - I paid about £5 for one.

Stompythedinosaur · 04/09/2018 13:48

Thanks, there are some great ideas here, should see me through the next few years!

Is there a branch of H & M near you? Very popular with the teens so maybe a voucher for there, or even one for the inevitable Nando's Grin
