Thinking back to when my DS was two....

  • big box of Duplo, plus Duplo books (a story that you build along too)
  • That's not my.... books
  • Christmas themed sticker and colouring books
  • tool bench, similar to this
  • Mr Potato head, e.g. standard, can also get Spider-Man, star wars and all sorts of others
  • ELC Happyland toys, e.g. pirate ship
  • pens, pencils, etc.
  • balance bike or scooter
  • kitchen and play foods

Will continue to have a think....

Your dilemma inspired a post for my blog..thetoptoys.blogspot.com/2018/08/present-ideas-for-2-year-old-boy.html#more

Popular here with my 2 year old DR

Dolls house
Play kitchen and shopping trolley
Duplo
Happyland
Megasketch
Soft toys
Noah's ark
Board books
Sticker books and colouring books

Redgreencoverplant · 31/08/2018 13:47

Duplo, Duplo and more Duplo going by my 2 year old. Also a toy kitchen and food and a tea set. Oh and a marble run :)

GreenTulips · 31/08/2018 13:48

Mine got family presents only at that age.

They don't need loads.

BiddyPop · 31/08/2018 15:57

Dd got a dolls house and furniture that year from santa.

From other people that I can remember:
Books - bedtime stories and picture stories for daytime
Big Tonka tipper truck (house of engineers!)
Duplo

Other presents popular with DNs that age:
Kitchen and food and utensils
soft toys - especially not teddies but kangaroo, koala, tiger and other animals
Toy cars, trucks, helicopters, plane
Fisher price little people sets
Jigsaws
Play doh
Indoor play tent and play tunnel (ikea)
Set of plastic crockery (own plate and cup set)

Hope that helps

At two, the most popular toys for my boys were:

  • Toy kitchen and accessories
  • scooter (really got into by 2.3)
  • wooden trainset
  • Play doh
  • Schleich animals
  • crayons
NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 31/08/2018 16:34

Definitely a wooden train track. My son got some at 2 and has been played with every day since. He’s now 4

yummyeclair · 31/08/2018 16:40

Following with interest

IggyAce · 31/08/2018 16:41

My DN is coming up two:
Kitchen could then ask relatives for items to go with that. (Pans, tea set etc)
Duplo
Orchard jigsaws and games
Wooden train set the ikea one is lovely and my ds got that at a similar age and still plays with it now at 7.
Happy land sets are great from ELC. The farm was a hit in our house.

mammy0f0ne · 31/08/2018 16:52

Awesome, thanks so much everyone.

I had never even thought of duplo or happyland sets!

My DS got this Leapfrog ice cream cart for Christmas last year (aged 18 months) and it was by far the most popular of all the gifts for both him and his then 3.5 year old sister - and it’s still popular now, they’re literally playing with it in front of me as I type this now.

It takes up a chunk of floor space but they both love it.

My ds also turns 2 in Dec. So far have got some toot toot drivers stuff to add to some he already has, a micro scooter, some duplo and a wooden toolset - I'm buying for both as one then will divide it between birthday and Christmas nearer the time

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/08/2018 19:30

Happyland is brilliant for that age.
Dressing up box filled with outfits.
Balance bike.
Mini micro scooter.
Books, jigsaws, orchard toys board games.
Play kitchen/shop/puppet theatre
Easel

TeenTimesTwo · 31/08/2018 19:38

aquadraw

cuddly toys

Fewer presents from you (and others), and then extra presents in June (as presents or just produced, you choose) with appropriate things for the summer and 2.5 years old, e.g. micro scooter, mini trampoline, bubble machine (or are they for an older child?)

NewUserNameTime · 31/08/2018 20:13

Will reply later

TuckMyWin · 31/08/2018 21:15

My nearly two year old is obsessed with his train track and balance bike.
