As the title says what do you plan on getting how old are they and what is their budget for Xmas?
It's done every year but I think it's good for ideas and inspirations.
I'm pretty much stuck for ideas although it's early I like to be prepared before all the prices shoot up.
I plan to spend 250/300
Dc7 lol dolls, Xmas outfit arts crafts
What do you buy kids who aren't really interested in toys but are still youngish can anyone recommend spy kits science kits magazine subscriptions or activities PRESENTS?

DS 14 wants a Nintendo switch pro controller [sparkly] which seems to be £50-£60 (knowing me I'll end up paying £65 somehow). This is pleasingly a bit less than I'd budgeted, but I'll probably just spend the £20 I've 'saved' on his stocking. I don't really have a stocking budget so it goes absolutely nutsoid. Especially as dh died this year so I have huge flashing lights saying MAKE CHRISTMAS MAGICAL AGAIN in my brain. Eg planning to introduce ds to Die Hard on Christmas Day - that's magical, right?? [fairy lights set to stun]

We tried to get in under £100 each as we have three kids ages 6, 4 and nearly 2.

We've also tried to cut the number of toys we buy as they get lots from large birthday parties and extended family etc.

I usually budget £100 per child but I'm struggling this year to think of things to get them - they don't need anything and dd (4) doesn't really hanker after anything or watch t.v. with associated merchandise. Ds (7) would buy all the Lego in the world if he could, but we've got loads as it is and I'll need a bigger house first!

Tbh I'd rather get them things as and when they come up throughout the year, than blow out on stuff at Xmas that they aren't too bothered about because they've got so much else from family. And all my decent ideas have to be given to grandparents etc.

At what point do we say our kids just have...enough stuff? Not very Christmas spirited I know Grin

Misty9 · 28/09/2018 08:42

abouttime what camera are you going for? Ds has a kiddie one but it's got a tiny view screen so he might like a better one.

equimum what are the Lego dinosaurs? Dd would love those Smile

I'm getting ideas now...!

whoknowswhynow · 28/09/2018 09:12

Trying not too spend to much this year with new baby on the way and ds (2) has everything anyway!
So he will get a play easel, play dough set (from his new baby brother!) and paw patrol goodies!

Josiebloggs · 28/09/2018 09:15

My DCs really don't play with toys so DD9 has tickets to see her favourite band next year £80 a ticket Shock then will get some clothes, nail varnish and things to unwrap
My pre schoolers will get an annual ticket to their favourite soft play and some little things to unwrap.
We have a huge extended family and they won't go short of presents to open, then I have to find space for them Confused

MadameJosephine · 28/09/2018 09:34

I’ve started buying bits and pieces for DD who will be 6 in November so some will be for birthday and some for Christmas. So far I have

Big box of classic Lego
Smaller Lego 3 in 1 kit (helicopter/plane/boat) - you can also get a dinosaur one and a mythical creatures one, she has these already and loves them
Box of K’nex
Elastagirl toy
Lottie stargazer doll
Astronaut outfit for Lottie Doll
Nintendo Labo variety box for the switch
Rosie Revere Engineer book
I’ve discovered little Golden books which are children’s books of classic movies so have ordered her the ‘Star Wars: A new hope’ one

I’m also getting her a board game but currently trying to decide between the junior versions of Catan, Carcassone or Ticket to Ride so if anyone has any opinion on these I’d be grateful

OutPinked · 28/09/2018 10:44

I want to try and spend £150 per child. Three primary aged DC and will have a six week old baby. It will undoubtedly end up being slightly more because it almost always is.

The three DC want a new bike and helmet so that’s their main present then the rest is little things they have asked for such as an Xbox game for DS, lol dolls for DD’s, slime (Hmm), bunchems etc then the usual pyjamas, slippers, socks, chocolate Santa and lush bath bomb for Christmas Eve.

MegBusset · 28/09/2018 19:59

DSes are 9 and 11. Struggling for big ideas this year! They have both had new phones recently and aren't bothered about games consoles particularly. They will both get a cuddly toy each but aren't fussed about toys generally, we already have a houseful of Lego. The older one in particular is not really into 'stuff'. Mostly they like to read comics and chase each other around the house Hmm

They will get a branded T shirt each, onesie, a small Lego set and a few books. Plus some sweets. DS2 is keen for a hamster but don't think I'll convince DH!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/09/2018 20:09

Think DD has decided on a hover board. She'll have to put all her money from everyone together for it.

Keepon123 · 29/09/2018 01:38

hollybolly just wondered which hoverboard you’re planning on getting as I’m olanning on getting one for my dads but there’s so much choice out there and not sure which is the best to get

Keepon123 · 29/09/2018 01:38

ds not dads!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/09/2018 03:36

@Keepon123 I am clueless I'm afraid! I'll need to do some research on it!

Justabadwife · 30/09/2018 07:10

@keepon123

We got dd the hoverboard from currys PC world for her birthday for £189.99
It's great, It's got a good battery life (although you can't see when the battery is running out.)
It marks very easily as it's black.
It can't go out in the rain (not sure any if them can though)
It's very heavy, too heavy for dd (9) to comfortably carry.

Justabadwife · 30/09/2018 07:21

My list has changed slightly

Nintendo switch
Go Vacation
Minecraft
Snipperclips plus
Let's go pikachu with the ball thing

Furry onesie

Makeup bag and brushes

ifiwasabutterfly · 30/09/2018 07:47

@Sunflowers79 am sure you've thought of it but if you are buying a switch between 3, make sure you buy another set of controllers so they can all play at once! It comes as a 1 (handheld) or 2 player (tv) you can buy another set of the small controllers or separate pro controllers.

DD is 11 in November so it will be

A nintendo switch with games
Books
She loves plushies so a few of those
Arts and Crafts stuff

FishesThatFly · 30/09/2018 07:59

DS 15 and 11yrs

Neither play with toys or games anymore.

Both want ps4 and switch games for their machines.

Ds1 will get books too

Ds2 likes clothes.

I spend approx £300 each but have warned them both that their piles won't look like much as games are so expensive.

Will also get chocolate, sweets etc

Smellybears · 30/09/2018 08:01

Oops, posted on wrong thread sorry!! 😳

Sunflowers79 · 30/09/2018 08:08

@ifiwasabutterfly shockingly this hadn’t even crossed my mind 😳 thanks for the heads up - you may very well have saved Christmas!

ifiwasabutterfly · 30/09/2018 09:51

@Sunflowers79 ha ha the last thing you need on Christmas Day is an argument! Mario kart is definitely a 4 player game, but they won't all be.

alfiesmam · 30/09/2018 11:58
