Duvet sets as gifts for DC 9, 8 & 6 yrs

What would you do -

I've bought each of my dc a duvet set relating to their interests (Pusheen, Football & Sharks)

However, I've totally fallen in love with Teddy Bear Fleece duvet sets & think they would love them.

Our house is not the warmest so they tend to have brushed cotton or fleece duvet sets on Oct-March & the first lot I bought are all plain cotton.

Would you give 2 duvet sets to each dc at Christmas or should I keep them back.

DD9 has her birthday in Jan so could maybe give hers then. Or go for Easter (even though we don't really do presents just an Easter egg).

OR

We're going on holiday mid Oct & was toying with putting the new teddy bear covers on when we get home.

Sorry it's such a silly question but I just can't decide!!

I’d put them on when you come back from your holiday. That way your DC will have them ready for the cold weather.

If you can afford to just give them to the DC in Oct then I would. The birthday in Jan is not too late, but Easter idea might mean that during the worst of the winter, your DC are without their lovely, cosy, fleecy duvets. Then, just as spring is coming you give them at Easter.

I probably wouldn't give them as a present. I would see them as essentials and not really a gift for children. I'll probably be in the minority though!

Thanks for replying Smile

Dc already have 2-3 brushed cotton/fleece duvet sets each so they'll not be chilly without them. I just really love the teddy bear fleece ones Grin

Actually I think I have a thing for duvet sets as we have loads of them but I do ebay/charity shop sets often so we don't drown in them.

DH just says give them to them in Oct but at £20 each I feel they should be a present but maybe that's just me being silly (& stingy)

I wouldn't personally give bed linen as a present and my children would give the evil side-eye if I tried. I would use the warm covers when it was necessary and not hold out for an arbitrary date.

JurassicGirl · 28/08/2018 18:56

My DH feels like you do Iwould but I've been trying to reduce the amount of 'stuff' in the house (excluding bedding Grin ) so thought this year we'd give them gifts they've asked (toys/games/books) but pad out the present pile with some nice essentials like dressing gowns, duvet sets, pjs, hot water bottles etc

I always go for bedding that relates to their interests & change them as their interests change.

Pascha Grin I swear I'm not a meany & would never give general everyday essential items as gifts or hold them for a particular date.

They get plenty of essential (& non essential) items it's just I bought them as intended gifts so am just re-thinking.

Appreciate the opinions & think I'll put them on after our Oct holiday Smile
