Just wondering (kids 2 and 3) Santa will be getting them train stuff for Christmas. The smallest will be just two. Are train tables worth investment or just track better on its own? Clueless!!

I prefer just track because your not limited to the size of the table, we build very big train tracks!!!

My children love their train track-great present. The nice thing with it also is relatives can buy bits for the track/trains and their not too expensive.,

Table only really used for storage here. Occasionally they decide to make the one on the table design but usually prefer to free style all over the floor.

I got a train table for my 2 boys a few years ago. They were 2 & 3, it was really well played with. All kids that came into the house gravitated towards it. I put it away last year (3 years on). Eldest still plays with the track a good bit. He spotted the train table in the garage the other day and asked for it back up.

If you have the space for it I’d go with the table. It makes it a bit more wow and they can see it all better when it’s higher up. They’ll still play with track on the floor tooSmile

We got a table, but not one of those that typically comes with the track. We got a play table from Pin toy.
It’s been fantastic - great for playing with other stuff like lego too.

Mine prefer the floor so they can sit in the middle of it.

I’m undecided.
tummy play on the floor and squatting are really beneficial to pre schoolers.
Stepping on trains was not beneficial to my health.

I have a train table out in the playroom. My younger two (four and not quite two) play with it all the time. I'd say if you have somewhere it can stay up a train table is great! They can pull it all off onto the floor and build bigger ones when they have lots of time, but they can play with the preassembled track if they have five minutes, so I think it gets more use.

Had a train table when DS was younger he never used it preferred the floor. He could construct different tracks without being limited and loved making huge tracks all around the house.

I bought a train table and ended up selling it on gumtree as it just didn’t get used. My two play best with the tracks on the floor - they can be much more creative and love building an ‘underground train’ (one that partly goes under the sofa!). I’d use the money for buying better track accessories.

Thank you all for your opinions! Very much appreciated! Think I'm going to go with the floor option and just have a bigger budget for other little.bits. thank you all though!
