If you don't have a Christmas tree

What do you have?

We got a kitten earlier this year and I know the Christmas tree will not be safe! I would like 'something' though. Do you have any alternatives?

A pine garland thing that goes round the fireplace and tall vases placed either side filled with babbles and pine cones.

Used the year the nosy puppy couldn’t be trusted with a tree. I’m desperate to convince DH to repeat this and not have a tree this year.

Nothing, cats wreck everything in this house.

When DS was a rampaging toddler we had a prelit LED tree , if it got knocked over it would just switch off .

Obvs he didn't chew wires which your kitten might do !

I would go with battery lit candles and non glass things .
A wide flat bowl heaped with non-breakable baubles maybe?

You kitten might have transformed itself into a fully grown mature disdainful cat who will "Pah" at your decorations (or that might've just been our feline when we had her)

Honestly, our cat never bothered with the Christmas tree even as a kitten. I think we've come downstairs in the morning once or twice to find a rogue bauble on the floor and that's it

Reading with interest as this year dd will be 14 months and loves touching stuff that she definitely shouldn’t be touching

i would just get a tree, ive had 4 cats and only one liked to sit in the tree, one did take a liking to my santa doorstop which had to be thrown away as it looked a bit worse for wear after new year. i miss cats as my dog just doesn't care about anything other than sleep and food Grin

We've had one up with our two since babyhood. Bells on the lower branches and non breakable ornaments. They didn't go too mad for it. I may eat my words with 2.5yo Ds2 this year though.
