How to make it magical for first Christmas with DS(2)

This will be our first Christmas with our adopted DS who turns 2 a few weeks before Christmas. I know he will be too young to remember it but it will be the first year he can really enjoy it!

We will be doing the Winchester Christmas market in early December, and will take him to see Father Christmas somewhere nice in Kent at some point too. Any other ideas for nice things to do in the lead up to Christmas or new traditions to consider to make this Christmas extra special?

It might be more special for you, but why not take him to a pottery cafe in the run-up to Christmas. When ours were about two, we took them and made baulbauls with their handprints on. We also got a special plate that has was shaped like a snowman. We printed both DSs handprints in the centre, then I painted the details. These bow come out each Christmas, and we remember how small they were. DS1, now 5, lives this.

I'd avoid The Snowman TBH due to the loss at the end. It's so sad when it melts.

Before you go to bed on Christmas Eve add loads more fairy lights on timers so when you come down in the morning everything is twinkly and lovely. All present go under the tree on Xmas eve for full impact on Xmas morning.

Don’t forget to chew up and spit out carrot all over the doorstep. (Yes I actually do this 😱)

I leave a sweet trail from their bedrooms to their stockings in the twinkly living room.

Music. In the car, in the kitchen, carols, crooners.

I’ll be telling my youngest this year (she’s starting secondary school) about Santa. Nothing will change through.😊 I get as excited as ever.
