We moved here from Switzerland and the company paid for things to be brought from there. But that was a small apartment.

I went back home after six years and tried to send photos, books used clothes and kids toys here to the UK to help the kids remember their past.

But I picked the wrong company and they seem clueless on sending a shipment to the UK

I now know I have to pay duty even on these low value goods, and vat on the cost of shipping.

ANyone know an importing company that is reasonable and not expensive?

Anyone know a shipping by sea from Seattle to UK company that is very inexpensive? Or an importing firm that is efficient but also very inexpensive?

How about a website to help us clueless Americans?

Thank you Terramirabiilis. However I can't seem to find anything useful. British expats seems to be geared to British people living in the states. I need something for US people living in the UK.

Or someone of any nationality that has shipped personal effects from seattle to the UK after the one year period of duty free importation is over.

Try speaking with Crown Relocation 😀 They're a global company and I've used them to move houses between US, Australia and U.K. And also air freight from UK to US.

They've always been very competitive and very efficient.

They don't have a Seattle office, but I'd speak to one of the others instead.
