I love doing elf on the shelf but the original one gives me to creeps so I bought a Christopher popinkins (book that came with elf) and used that instead.

Now ds will be expecting dd to get an elf this year and I can't find a single posable(sp?) elf doll that's cheap and not creepy.. the girl popinkins is ridiculously expensive and I refuse to pay £40.. anyone use a different elf?

It’s easy enough to make a soft bodied toy poseable by adding wire. Just be careful to turn back the ends of the wire so they can’t accidentally poke out and hurt anyone

MrsFTigalar · 02/06/2018 21:58

What about a Kindness Elf? The imagination tree is the person to go to I think.

Cutyourshakehole · 02/06/2018 22:02

There’s not many wired so add wire yourself maybe.
We use this one from Argos, they bring it out in xmas catalogue. He has scatch on his hands so being poseable
Isn’t a must really

We got ours from etsy. There were a few on there.

I love the idea of the Kindness Elves. Or you could get Mary Cicely Barker's Christmas Tree Fairy

We use one of these pixies. Not cheap, but not £40 either.

We do Santa on a fanta...

There was a female elf fairy creature being sold alongside the elf in b&m this week...

Op there's loads out there, I see tons of similar toys every year. We had a lovely pretty one from ikea and we did our own elf letter which was nothing to do with spying to be good.

It was about spending time with dc to see what presents they may like if... What they requested isn't available. And to help train the elf because they are naughty...

Rag doll angel

SparkyBlue · 22/09/2018 11:43

I just bought a cute looking soft toy elf. All the shops will be getting them in soon. We called him Jingle. I got a very cute Gingerbread girl in Penneys last year (that's Primark to ye in the UK 😀) She then joined the elf and was his girlfriend. Technically none of this is keeping with the actual Elf on the shelf idea but we adapted it to suit us.

Reaa · 22/09/2018 11:47

Do something different and get a Christmas fairy doll.

Isadora2007 · 22/09/2018 14:00

We have the rag doll above and she is the Advent Angel. Far nicer than the elf.

squealingpiglets · 23/09/2018 22:26

Broomstick we have a maileg mini pixie too. Got it with the pixy house advent calendar so we kind of combine that with some pixie mayhem each day.

I think u can get ones with magnetic hands & feet which would help with poseability byt we managed ok without. hth
