5 and 9 year old will be very happy with Lego (hoping to find a bargain by looking now) but struggling for ideas for my 12 year old. Into football, x box, his dog, looking good 🙄. Any ideas?

Can you do a 'fill-your-own' advent calendar? Mini hair product, body spray, packs of Match-Attax cards (if he is into them), a coin a day to build up to an Xbox voucher, a couple of nice chocolates.

My DS is a similar age and would like all of the above apart from having a PS4 instead of an Xbox.

What fresh hell is this? advent calendars? in June? After midnight on a Friday?

MrsEricBana · 02/06/2018 00:42

What do you mean Pigeon? There's only 6 months left till the start of advent 😉

Do your own - 2 shoe boxees, 6 ikea boxes in each. Sicky numbers on each. Either present in box or note for something that doesn't fit.
Brilliant for older child with no large present, but loads of clothes, bits etc

It's the Christmas board, @pigeonpresent. The clue's in the name.

Match attax did an advent calendar last year.

RaspberryRuffless · 02/06/2018 12:39

I made my own for my son last year, I bought little paper bags and christmas pegs things on a string to hang them and just filled the bags with either sweets or cheap things like flash drives, pokemon cards and little bit and pieces he'd like. He really liked it so I'll do the same again this year.

Branleuse · 02/06/2018 12:53

I'd just get him.a decent chocolate one if he's not into Lego anymore

Hedgyhoggy · 02/06/2018 12:55

I love Pigeon like responses 😆 thanks Mumsnet Elves for some great ideas. Just thinking what things I should be doing after midnight on a Friday night 🙄

Definitely make your own. My youngest love blind bags so I stock up when Argos has it's 3for2. Those mixed with some sweets/chocolates goes down well.
Set a budget and mix pricey with cheap and tailor to days so like on Christmas jumper day - a pair of festive socks, or on weekends you can put in popcorn for a cinema trip or tickets to whatever activity you may be doing etc
