For those of you staying in, what are you having to eat New Year’s Eve?
We normally do a buffet but I’m thinking we might try something different!

Indian at a restaurant with another couple then I'm doing a lamb roast on new yr day for my parents.lets hope I'm not too hungover!

I will be hosting my smallest New Year's dinner so far as my best friend is between chemoterapies and not feeling up to mixing with a crowd. So, four of us plus their 20 years old disabled son. Appetizers, then foie gras and ginger bread, snails and smoked salmon. As a main course we'll have a huge free range chicken (3 kg) served with an écrasé de pommes de terre (slightly mashed potatoes with cream and chives if any left in the garden). Then a cheese platter and Nigella's lemon Pavlola. Being in France (and French), it was really hard to find a jar of lemon curd in the shops today.
And some nice wine of course.😊

Showing my roots: we're having Raclette, it is (or maybe was?) popular for NYE in Germany.

Roast rib of beef... can't wait! We usually go to friends for Christmas lunch (yes we contribute but they do the main course) so I like to do a special roast at home for New Year. There is leftover Christmas pudding and brandy butter if we have room!

Sensible eating resumes Monday GrinSad

Farm shop sausages and mash and Bakewell tart and custard.

M&S dine in for 2 here too:

Tomato & Camembert tarts
Rump steak with peppercorn sauce, garlic mushrooms and chips
Dutch apple tart

It's been our Hogmanay tradition for the last few years.

Hoppin' John, a traditional southern US dish involving black eyed peas, smoked pork and onions. Plus fried chicken and a salad. Dessert will be Christmas cookies, a Hungarian Gerbaud cake, and a pumpkin pie because DD3 loves them.

We ate out on christmas eve and christmas day, had a buffet on boxing day so tonight we are having roast chicken, stuffing, chipolatas, croquettes, pot gratin and carrots followed with either lemon meringue roulade or a choice of hagen dazs.. or some of each!

Blankiefan · 31/12/2017 17:18

Steak pie... as all good Scots do.
