For me it's Ferrero arsing Rocher to take to SIL's tomorrow. The ambassador will not be spoiling anyone this Christmas in the Cherry family. Asda had mountains of the stuff in yesterday, but I'd already done the shopping and couldn't be arsed going back to the tills. Not a single one there today, or in the Spar. Oh well, that'll learn me.

What did you not get for tomorrow, in the way of shopping/presents/food?

Despite ordering our Christmas shop at the beginning of November, Waitrose ran out of crackers yesterday, so none arrived with our order. Thankfully we had half a box of 7-year-old somewhat musty crackers in the garage.

Chocolate oranges it has been a family tradition for 20odd years i have been in 2 local shops today and I still forgot Xmas Sad

LazyDailyMailJournos · 24/12/2017 17:09

Goose fat for the roast potatoes. I've basically ruined my Christmas dinner

What Natalia said. I never use goose fat and I make great roasties. I use normal veg or sunflower oil but the key is getting the oil smoking hot before you put the potatoes in. Plus making sure they are properly roughed up and 'floury edged' beforehand.

Very quick and Easy bread sauce-

Finely chop an onion, gently soften in butter, add a bit of plain flour then milk to make a white sauce, then thicken with grated white bread. Season with salt and pepper and a pinch of nutmeg if you have it. Takes less than ten mins and tastes lovely.

purplecorkheart · 24/12/2017 17:12

I have that feeling that I have forgot something but haven't discovered what yet!

Graphista · 24/12/2017 17:15

Crackers! Completely forgot!

Other than that we're sorted

Olive oil - shouldn't be used hot as its carcinogenic I believe?

To the pregnant lady with headache and no paracetamol in - a corner shops may well have and many of those will still be open b - if you tell us what kinda headache we may be able to recommend an alternative pain relief method?

MrsJayy · 24/12/2017 17:16

I make roasties with sunflower oil they don't need goosefat honestly

KingLooieCatz · 24/12/2017 17:18

Some glacé cherries and the plastic swords to put them on, to then to go in my Christmas snowball. I have the snowball but not the rest of the gubbins.

RaininSummer · 24/12/2017 17:19

No grapes for cheeseboard and no apple sauce for porky pig on boxing day. Oh no is Christmas ruined?

VeenyCat · 24/12/2017 17:23

Vodka and Baileys. Vodka for Bloody Mary’s on Boxing Day, and Baileys just because.

There’s a skerrick of amaretto at the back of the booze cupboard, which can replace the Baileys, and the local tiny coop will be open on Tues, so future me can deal with the vodka issue then.

RaininSummer · 24/12/2017 17:30

I am realising now that not buying vodka was an error as lidls fake baileys, vodka and almond milk is gorgeous and I need to drink it lots.

I bought a diddy bottle of Bailey's and DH and I had a glass or two last night. At which point we remembered how lovely Bailey's is and realised that maybe the 'fun size' bottle wasn't going to be sufficient. Went out and bought a bigger one this afternoon!

Idontmeanto · 24/12/2017 17:42

I went to get passata out of the cupboard and realised we were out. Dd2 did an emergency dash to Tesco at 4.45.

smashbake · 24/12/2017 17:50

I've got no bread in the house.

Viviennemary · 24/12/2017 17:52

I started a whole thread on Ferrero Rocher yesterday. Somebody recommended the white ones which I got. Mmmm lovely. I got everything I wanted I think even got parcels in plenty of time. I even got the tree up before Christmas eve.

KrisCringleWinterWonderland · 24/12/2017 17:54

No mayo. Sad.

MadisonAvenue · 24/12/2017 17:56

If anyone needs wine I'll happily donate the three bottles I've been bought by people who know very well that I can't stand it!

Gazelda · 24/12/2017 17:57

Posh gravy. Do you think bisto will do?

CoolCarrie · 24/12/2017 17:59

An Oor Wullie annual for DS !

AdaColeman · 24/12/2017 18:05

No bread in the house? Jamie's flat bread will see you though, flour and yoghurt, look it up online and there is a thread on here about it too.
Or make scones, basic or rich with an egg.

As for no mayonnaise, well, civilization has begun to crumble.

MyGuideJools · 24/12/2017 18:11

Salad leaves for buffet tea tomorrow night🙈 im sure we will cope without it!

JingleBellsFartlekSmells · 24/12/2017 18:17

Chestnuts and pancetta. Morrison's we're out of any kind of chestnut today so I didn't bother with the pancetta as they were both meant to be for the sprouts. DH felt he needed to make a last dash to shops for biscuits and came home with a crappy tin of family circleXmas Angry. Family circle don't have chocolate on them. What was he thinking???? The best part of Christmas is unlimited chocolate biscuits.

Christmas is ruined.

AllGoodDogs · 24/12/2017 18:19

Present for DH. We'd agreed to not buy for each other but I just caught him and the boys wrapping something for me!

genehuntshoops · 24/12/2017 18:24

Don't think I've forgotten anything. But then round here the local shops, including those that sell fruit and veg, wine etc, will be open tomorrow (not all of the them, but a fair few).

BexleyRae
Are you cooking a turkey?
If so why not use the juices from the turkey for your roast potatoes ?
