Was organised for Christmas this year! Bought dh presents in nov, feeling all smug. He loves watches. I bought him a nice watch for work. I also bought a watch box, one of those ones with room for half a dozen watches all in their own little space on display as I'm fed up of him leaving watches wherever he happens to take it off.

So I'm sitting having coffee with him this morning and realise he's wearing the same watch I bought him! It's one of his fave watches but I've just never paid a huge amount of attention to them before. I bought it cos I just KNEW he would love it.

And as it was such a perfect gift, I threw away the box it came in (put it in the box I bought) but kept receipt in case of faults.

Can't return it as change of mind and I chucked the box!!

So merry Christmas dh, you now have 2 identical watches.

Accidently break the original watch?

Oops! I'm sure it'll be funny in the future Grin

Brazen it out and tell him you knew he loved it so much you wanted him to have a spare Grin

I agree - brazen it out, and you'll laugh about it in the future.

I realised I'd got dh a duplicate gift, when I was wrapping his stocking fillers - luckily it is just Turkish Delight, so nowhere near as major as yours.

I do remember one year where almost everything he put in my stocking was a duplicate - two pairs of woolly gloves, two pairs of earrings, two egg cups, two bottles of posh fruit coulis - it was like he had a few good ideas, but thought it wasn't enough, so just doubled everything.

He didn't duplicate the Terry's chocolate orange, which was a shame! Xmas Grin

DH collects watches, and keeps all the boxes, so he may have the box for the one you have got him. Have a good laugh about it on Christmas day, then return and let him pick a new one in the new year.

Maybe its time to give up surprise presents?

If a return is out of the question, you could sell the older one.
