Must I sort the x box tonignt?

It's still in its box and came with two games. I've never had one before but I know you're supposed to get it all ready before.

I have just finished wrapping the stocking presents and was feeling slightly smug as there's less under the tree stuff than usual to wrap tomorrow night this year due to said X box. Then I remembered I've not set it up.

What will happen if I leave it until tomorrow?

Dh has just got the xbox out now to get it ready. Hoping it won't take too long tonight to update.

• connect it to WiFi
• complete a system update (can take a while to download if your WiFi is slow)
• install updates for each game if they have online multiplayer
• sign in / register for an Xbox live account.

Do it tonght, it takes quite a long time, requires a bit of concentration (working out how to use controllers to navigate screens etc) and is best done after DCs are in bed.

It's a good idea to do it tonight. We got hit by the sony ddos attack when we bought our ps4 one christmas and couldn't register or update for days.

Do it tonight! I bought one for DS a few years ago and had no idea about game updates. He spent his whole day waiting for it to work.

I'm glad I've taken the advice and started doing it over an hour ago and still not done! On the second of three downloads that had a code thing. Do they take as long to download if you have an actual disc??
I have two of those as well but I just want to go to bed...

I got an xbox last year for my boys and followed advice on MN to get it all set up ready to go. Really glad I did as it took ages.

Best to do the updates as early as poss because the servers are really slow on Christmas day as everyone's trying to do it.

We set up ours Xmas eve a couple of years ago. Takes hours! Glad we did as the whole system crashed Xmas day due to the number of people trying to set up!
