Ill start .....
Cheese!!!! This will out me if anyone in my locality is on MN for sure lol!

I always always have cheese and lots of it at Christmas ...

Booked my slot with Asda in November for yesterday first things that went in trolley was all my flavoured cheeses. Eight of them, plus cheddar! I received the cheddar and one just ONE other all the rest out of stock!!

So put a call out on FB for local shops and supermarkets and reassured that everyone has lots of cheese phew!

Sent son out this afternoon with a list to try the shops that had replied .... all I got to add to my very small collection was Danish Blue. He handed the list to supermarkets and independents alike and it seems I was asking for the impossible

Still got no cheese selection to speak of, can't remember a Christmas without Cheese I know I have another day tomorrow to find some but I do not hold out much hope :(

jlbcredit · 23/12/2017 21:15

Sainsburys online had cheese footballs so a bigger store might have them?

Auntpetunia2015 · 23/12/2017 21:19

Fennel whole fresh fennel, need it to go in our potatoes..have been looking since November as it’s often hard to find in December so I usually buy it and freeze it ..not a sniff this year

ihavetogoshoppingnow · 23/12/2017 21:25

DD’s Christmas present Blush hoping it’s in the loft somewhere because it’s not in the box of other presents

ProudAunty2nine · 23/12/2017 21:54

We have cheese in the town not what I want and actually buy every year I am baffled by the complexity of getting double Gloucester with chives etc this year not sure if maybe I have missed something!

And actually reading through the posts (thanks all for the comments :) ) I am reminded that I bought our 5 year old a pair of Christmas socks for her stocking and they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth too!

Satsumas! As in actual satsuma so, not crappy sweet Clems that Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury and Aldi have tried to sell me.

(disclaimer: I have been in these shops for other vital items eg cheap Jack Daniels but still looked in vain for satsumas. Given up on it now

catwithflowers · 23/12/2017 22:17

Lindt reindeer. Were 2 for £5 in Morrisons but now sold out

Hippadippadation · 23/12/2017 22:20

Hugo LIDL have romanesco, packaged for kids in the kids range, but romanesco all the same.

Hippadippadation · 23/12/2017 22:20

clary LIDL also have satsumas. I've been buying them for weeks.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 23/12/2017 22:21

Christmas stockings
Non Christmassy jumpers in age 11

Blahblahblahzeeblah · 23/12/2017 22:22

Prawns! None fresh or frozen in the supermarket today.

Greenteandchives · 23/12/2017 22:24

Canapé sized blinis. Not cocktail sized, which are too big. posh

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 22:29

Sage. I need it for my stuffing, but local supermarkets are all out. Hoping DH can track some down tomorrow. I do have an emergency box of sage and onion stuffing mix, but worried it will ruin my made-from -scratch forcemeat stuffing if I have to bung it in. #firstworldproblems [santa].

Ideserveanamazing2018 · 23/12/2017 22:30

Ohtheholidays I also have been looking for sugared almonds on line and everywhere. Today I was passing Poundland and thought oh well give it a try. They had some (and only £1 strangely enough Smile).

Dolceandgabbana14 · 23/12/2017 22:47

Profiteroles. None in Aldi or Iceland. Kya love them Sad

clary · 23/12/2017 22:47

Ah may nip to lidl tomoz then Feel I've I am playing supermarket bingo this week, normally I'm just an Aldi girl 😀

Longdistance · 23/12/2017 22:59

I was in Aldi earlier, and they had shed loads of different cheeses.

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 23:08

I will add in defence of doing things at the last minute that I could have sworn I had a half-full jar of the wretched stuff Xmas Grin.

NotEnoughCushions · 23/12/2017 23:20

Hovis biscuits (to go with the cheese). Loads of packs of 'biscuits for cheese' but can't get a simple pack of Hovis biscuits.

am aware that many people will declare Hovis and cheese to be terribly poor form

LegArmpits · 23/12/2017 23:29

God I love Hovis biscuits and cheese.
Will check Sainsbury's for cheese footballs, thanks. 👍

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2017 23:29

Some of the Christmas decorations that DH put away last year

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2017 23:30

M&S had profiteroles yesterday ...

ChippyMinton · 24/12/2017 00:34

I bought a huge proper old-fashioned tin of Quality Street weeks ago, but can I find it ? No!
I have even suggested a QS amnesty in case the kids have scoffed the contents and hidden the tin.

ohtheholidays · 24/12/2017 00:55

Ideserveanamazing2018 Thanks for that I shall try again once the shops are opened.

ohtheholidays · 24/12/2017 00:58

OP Iceland had tons of double Gloucester with chives.

LegArmpits Iceland also had a couple of stacks of cheese footballs in the small Iceland we went into.
