How reliable will my foos shop from Sainsbury's be on 23rd December?

It's a bit late now I know.

Am ordering everything. Wine and fizz, all food stuffs (not sure if I will order turkey or get that separately tomorrow - any advice on that is also appreciated). What is the likelihood I'll get everything??

Am 8 months pregnant, exhausted and trying to avoid the shops on 23/24.

My Sainsbury's driver last week said he once delivered to a home that had ordered two sides of salmon ( to feed 14) - they got two salmon fillets. Another one had ordered an extra large turkey but got the smallest turkey instead, as no big ones left. This was a couple of days before Christmas. I wouldn't take the risk....

My Tesco shop had 11 substitutes, none suitable,so I had to trail round again today...mine came yesterday,so I'm glad I didn't leave it to the last minute

My Waitrose shop has been perfect for the last three years, I can't help but feel my luck must run out soon... Grin

We got everything except the stuffing last year.

StreyyTV · 21/12/2017 19:37

Last year I ordered £200 worth of stuff from Asda for the 23rd and got charged £135. Substitutes were fine but loads of stuff they just brought nothing and not a word of apology from the driver. I know not his fault, but the whole thing was a total pisstake.

Not leaving it to chance this year. Had all my veg and everything delivered from Tesco perfectly today. Might not be as fresh as I want it to be but at least I know it's all there. Everything long-dated I've had delivered as soon as it's been available.

Only thing left really is the turkey and a massive salmon platter, but they're both specifically done to order from Tesco so should be OK.

Bubblysqueak · 21/12/2017 19:40

Had 4 subs yesterday (tesco) all for bigger than what I asked for (cheese and ham) so can't really complain.

iBiscuit · 21/12/2017 19:41

I had everything, including the turkey, delivered from Morrison's on Christmas Eve afternoon last year. It was nailbiting Grin

The only sub was some normal bread sauce for the The Best (or whatever Morrison's call it) stuff.

NoStraightEdges · 21/12/2017 19:44

I hate this feeling. I have mine booked for tomorrow too. I've had times when it's been perfect, and times when quite a lot was subbed.

I went on today to check and it said that two items weren't available, do I changed them which is good and gives me hope!

NisekoWhistler · 21/12/2017 19:44

You'll live if your order doesn't come you know. First world problems and all that!

IceBearRocks · 21/12/2017 19:51

Ssssshhhhhhhh.....Waitrose shop coming at 9pm

RaininSummer · 21/12/2017 19:59

Sains tonight. May need to nip out tomorrow if dairy items missing but other than that it won't affect planned menu much as have veg and meat and only doing boxing day.

cookiefiend · 21/12/2017 20:26

Our order was fine last year- don't think we any substitutions except possibly a different brand of Yorkshire puddings.

I hope it will be ok this year...

RaininSummer · 21/12/2017 22:40

Only things missing were ice cream and some booze.

Crunchymum · 22/12/2017 13:24

I know I'll live but as I said I'm 8 months pregnant, tired and as it happens now feeling poorly too (medication related but I'm feeling rubbish none the less)

I couldn't handle the pressure so I went and got the absolute essentials yesterday -turkey / potatoes / stuffing and pigs in blankets. Everything else I can deal with (have frozen veg and even some Yorkshire puddings in the freezer if the fresh stuff doesn't appear).

Sainsbury's is so well stocked in store I'll be annoyed if there is a lot missing from the online order.

My Sainsburys order arrived this morning with nothing missing and only one sub - different thickness of sliced bread.

Bazookapie · 22/12/2017 13:48

Sainsburys order came an hour ago - nothing missing and not one substitution. Same last year too.

onemouseplace · 22/12/2017 13:49

Sainsburys coming this evening - I have deliberately ordered for this evening so I can send DH tomorrow to pick up anything missing. We are picking up our meat order separately from the butcher though.

In fairness to Sainsburys though - they couldn't deliver our main meat a couple of years back (it was either duck or goose - can't actually remember) and could only send us one smaller bird that wouldn't have been big enough. They were brilliant about it though, called me in advance, said they had tracked down another one and sent a separate delivery with that in.
