It's been a tough month. I normally adore christmas but this year there have been so many spanners in the works. ( Emergency central heating replacement- house torn apart for that) Illness with several family members.
I've only just put up the tree and have still to do most of my present shopping the house is a mess.
I have planned to hit the shops today but really just feel like curling under my duvet.
I need another 3 weeks- but I don';t have it do I

Sorry to hear, why don’t you do some shopping online, most offer next day delivery, need some inspiration?

speakout · 20/12/2017 06:41

Thanks, I appreciate that.

It's just the feeling of gloom I can't shake.

Ok, had shower, coffee here. Will tong my hair ( looks better with curls) drop DD off at school and hit the shopping centre.
I'll start with the cheap shops- B&M, Primark and work my way up.

I feel similar OP. Finished work on Monday after a hellish few months and just don't seem to be able to muster up The Joy.

ARichVernacular · 20/12/2017 06:46

Make sure you factor in lots of breaks for yourself - do an hour, have a cup of tea, etc.

speakout · 20/12/2017 06:49

Thanks. I'm recovering from illness too so don't feel the best.

You can do it!

speakout · 20/12/2017 06:51

Thank you.

Good luck. Make a list of what you need with the shop beside it maybe; nothing worse then thinking you've finished and realising you have to walk back to Boots again.

I don't even know what I will be buying!

I feel the same. I’m a teacher and Christmas starts so early in school and I’m always too busy to do the home stuff. Then we take the decorations down when the children have gone home on the last day, but come home to have to start it all properly! Of course my own kids are full of festive joy, but I’m not feeling it.
I have a child free day today though, so am going to attempt my last present shopping. Most was online so a bit joyless. Stockings today so that’s more fun.
Then I’ve got friends coming over later, so I need to make sure the decorating is finished and boxes put away. Might help...

parrotonmyshoulder · 20/12/2017 07:13

Sorry to hear you’ve been ill. Who do you need to buy for? I’ve got my parents still but have seen a crazy huge garden object that I’ve been tempted by (it’s a giant pig...they have a giant garden) so I’m going to go and see if it’s still there. Not sure how to carry it home though...

Treat yourself to a nice coffee halfway through. Take it easy. Christmas doesn't have to be like the adverts. Keep things simple and you'll be Christmas ready by the end of the day. It's only the 20th. You can do it!! BrewFlowersXmas Smile

Thanks everyone.

Loving the crazy pig.

I have teenagers, a mother, MIL, SIL, BIL, OH to buy for.

Thankfully won't see the inlaws until 29th, so breathing space there. So really just immediate family.

Food will be simple- enough for christmas day- supermarkets open again boxing day again.

That's the spirit! Christmas dinner is just a roast, no biggie, and you can cheat by buying ready prepared veg and a freezer pudding like a profriterol Christmas tree. Presents will be simple, you can probably get everything in Home Bargain and Primark. Buy gift bags instead of faffing around with wrapping paper and sellotape. Card Factory sells different sizes not overly expensive.
Happy Christmas Xmas Smile

@parrotonmyshoulder seriously hoping you are my daughter Grin
I want a giant pig for my garden!

parrotonmyshoulder · 21/12/2017 07:53

Did you get through the day okay OP? How’s that mojo? Giant pig stall wasn’t there yesterday so I need to make another festive trip out today. I got tempted by some lovely woven scented wreaths yesterday so now my house smells Christmassy at least!
