Do parents give presents or are they all from FC?

Maybe a question asked previously on here but me and DH always have this every year. Do you give presents to children or are they all from Father Christmas?

Stocking and one present from FC.

After the first year when they were all FC and I quickly realised I wasn't going to get any thanks! It changed the following year, DD was young enough not to realise.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2017 00:08

Mine are grown up now, but we did the same as RainbowWish.

We said that Santa delivered them, but we had to pay him for the presents. It meant we never got outrageous demands for impossibly expensive gifts Xmas Grin

LeMesmer · 20/12/2017 00:11

Everything used to be from Santa, apart from things from other relatives. I am not sure why DS never questioned why we never bought him anything. Selfishly, I'm rather glad he doesn't believe any more as it is me rather than that bearded bloke in red that gets all the credit for the presentsGrin

TheBlueMeaniesAreComing · 20/12/2017 00:20

Usually all from Santa but the box with one of DS’s Christmas presents wasn’t put on top of the wardrobe by DP and kiddies went snooping so all from Santa except one each from us. So glad it was only a small box with dressing up items in it

holidayparkquestion · 20/12/2017 00:28

Wow I'd not actually heard that people did an "all from Santa." Don't they wonder why their parents didn't get them anything!? Seems really weird to me (as our way must seem to those who do the all from Santa!.)

We do a stocking from Santa. Main presents from us. Still fun from Santa but lovely things from us too within our budget. We don't but then thijngs often so it's lovely to buy for them for xmas.

ragdoll700 · 20/12/2017 00:32

We buy one gift each Santa the rest, but other gifts are from the giver ie Grandparents, godparents aunts uncles. They are allowed to open gifts when the giver wants most of the time when they are given and not a a specified time by us

Juanbablo · 20/12/2017 07:32

Sack from Santa, one big present from us.

4forksake · 20/12/2017 08:28

They get one present each from us, family presents are given by family & everything else from Santa

KNain · 20/12/2017 09:52

One present from us here - medium sized. Stocking and all other presents bought by us come from Santa.

Presents from aunts/uncles/grandparents/friend etc are from the giver.

TheHolidayArmadillo · 20/12/2017 10:18

Don't they wonder why their parents didn't get them anything!?

Not really. If it did come up, it would be "we have to pay Santa", "We sent things to Santa" or "does Santa not bring you enough?". And then we knew the truth, or figured it out from the inconsistencies. No trauma, no one upset, actually quite appreciative of the effort our parents went to over the years without saying anything.

holidayparkquestion · 20/12/2017 11:13

ive never heard of paying Santa or Santa delivering the presents you bought (Santa as Amazon!?) until this thread.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/12/2017 11:36

Stocking presents come from Father Christmas (technically - though as the boys are 20, 22 and 24, they do know that it is actually dh and me, now), and the rest come from their actual donors.

RubyGoat · 20/12/2017 11:45

Presents come from parents, family etc. Father Christmas is the delivery guy. He checks all presents, & monitors behaviour over the year. If DD has been too naughty, some of the presents might not come back after we send them to him. Sometimes we threaten to phone him if she's being especially naughty... (it usually works!) she is only 5 though.

Lofari · 20/12/2017 11:49

All presents with labels on are from family and are to be read and thanked accordingly. All just with their names on are from Santa. Then in the afternoon after lunch they get one special present each which is just from mummy and daddy 😄

BiddyPop · 20/12/2017 12:05

In our house, everything from anyone else is from them.

Santa brings a stocking and a big ticket item. But there is also always something under the tree from DH and I to DD (often something more practical like clothes). But she sees us giving her something the same as us giving something to everyone else.

alletik · 20/12/2017 13:12

In our house FC brings a sack of presents, but these are cheaper or more practical items with three presents they request. These are usually random shit. DD this year asked eos lip balm, earrings and blue fluffy slime.

We buy the big stuff.

spiderlight · 20/12/2017 14:02

Stocking, one big present and something silly that we'd never buy from Father Christmas. Everything else is from us/grandparents/etc.

ItsBeginingToLookAlotLikeChris · 20/12/2017 16:46

I give a few... In case he they big many can't make it. But mainly all from fc. Other than family just gives frome themselves.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 20/12/2017 17:21

Santa brings a sack of stocking fillers (lip balm, stationary, funny little things) and a much requested gift. This year it's a beano annual and loaf of caramel bread for dd1 (Mrs claus made chocolate bread last year as requested) and a fingerling and book set for dd2. However santa doesn't deal in livestock (poo on the sleigh) or electronics (the elves magic interferes with complex technology like games consoles or tablets)

We buy gifts for dd's but they arent opened until after dinner is put on, had breakfast and everyone's ready :)

StrongerThanIThought76 · 20/12/2017 23:48

My sister is insisting that ALL presents for my nieces are from FC. Has requested gifts to be sent to hers unwrapped so that she can wrap everything in the same paper to keep up the illusion.

I won't be sending gifts next year if they don't know who they're actually coming from.

In our house, stockings from FC and maybe one biggish gift, rest from parents etc.

MrsDilber · 20/12/2017 23:58

Always been, presents in the stockings off Santa, presents under tree of mum and dad.

holidayparkquestion · 21/12/2017 00:00

Wow stronger I wouldnt want to play along with that. That isn't even Santa delivering your parcel is It!?

youwillbepk · 21/12/2017 00:30

Here, we send the money to Santa and then him and his elves decide who gets what presents and make them and bring them! It also helps when they're wondering about why some people get money re and others get less. Any gifts from grandparents etc are not from Santa and they know who gave what and are thankful! We also do a Christmas Eve box and that's our gift to them apart from what Santa brings.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 21/12/2017 08:24

Stocking from FC, wrapped in different paper for each child. Then they get presents from me, including some years a big ticket item. Stocking is funny things, useful bits, underwear etc, noting individually £££ but it does mount up.
