Maybe a question asked previously on here but me and DH always have this every year. Do you give presents to children or are they all from Father Christmas?

Stocking and main (asked for) present from Santa, few others from us, but nothing OTT.

ApplesinmyPocket · 19/12/2017 18:50

Santa filled the stockings. Everything else came from whoever it came from.

TheInterruptingSheep · 19/12/2017 18:53

When my children were younger everything came from FC, because that’s what my parents did with me. I don’t know anyone else who does it like this anymore.

iloveredwine · 19/12/2017 18:55

I do stockings and 1 present from Santa then rest from us or family/friends.

TefalTester123 · 19/12/2017 18:58

Only stocking from Father Christmas. Particularly don't have Father Christmas give anything that might develop problems, have to be exchanged or could be the wrong size.

PissedOffNeighbour · 19/12/2017 19:03

Stockings are from Father Christmas, the rest are from whoever gave them.

I would worry that less fortunate children would wonder why Father Christmas doesn’t like them very much if they don’t get many presents compared to their friends if they think all presents come from him.

HeyMicky · 19/12/2017 19:03

Stocking from FC in our house. Maybe one other gift requested that's not too big eg this year's it's a dolls bath for Dd2 - won't fit in the stocking but I'm happy for that to come from FC

Everything else from us. Especially big ticket items - why should Santa get the credit?

DameFanny · 19/12/2017 19:14

Stocking presents from Santa, all else from the person.

And then you can involve then in the fun of choosing presents for other people - if it all comes from Santa, how will they get into that habit?

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 19/12/2017 19:19

In our house Santa gifts = purchased by us. Gifts from relatives or friends are from that person and thanked accordingly, we wouldn't mix those in with the Santa gifts.

We don't give a gift "from" us as such though we usually do a family day out. My DPs always told us that parents send money to Santa to help him afford all the toys, after all there are so many children in the world Santa and the elves couldn't possibly make them all! We've gone with that for our dc and it gets you round the questions about brand names and toy catalogues Smile.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 19/12/2017 19:24

All in stocking and santa sack set out by the fire are from Santa. Other presents go under the tree from family members and from DC to other people. We give them one present each from us.

megletthesecond · 19/12/2017 19:24

Only stocking presents from FC. Useful bits like pens, shower gel etc.

All other big presents under the tree and they know who they're from.

Quartz2208 · 19/12/2017 19:26

For me I tell my D.C. that Santa makes sure that every child in the world gets one thing they want for Christmas no matter where they live or how much money they have. That for me is part of selling the magic. They have to think carefully to make sure that they pick sensibly so Santa has enough time for everyone else

gillybeanz · 19/12/2017 19:27

Everything came from FC when I was growing up, and we did the same for our kids.
No thank you cards required and when they were older it was nice them knowing who bought x that meant so much to them, they could still remember receiving it.

sweetsomethings · 19/12/2017 19:30

Everything from santa here . except gift from family and friends which are from them

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/12/2017 19:31

DS is 17 now but we maintain the pretence that all presents are given to FC to deliver on Christmas Eve at midnight. We all know that it's just a game, obviously, we have never pushed FC's existence as anything other than a myth from when he stopped believing. But I digress.

FC is just a postman in our house. Stockings and main presents all tagged from us and hidden until he's gone to bed on Christmas Eve for "FC delivery".

Elisheva · 19/12/2017 19:35

Everything from us, or the person who bought it for them.

ManicPixieDream · 19/12/2017 19:39

FC is just the courier in this house. He was in our house growing up too. People chose and bought the presents and then they were sent to Santa to be delivered on Christmas Eve. I might put a little something from Santa this year as I hadn't realised it was odd doing it our way. Xmas Blush

totsalot · 19/12/2017 19:42

Everything from santa, it's so magical seeing their faces light up when they realise how kind 'he' has been. I wouldn't want to take the magic away while they're little. They usually get a little card in a big box from us saying that mummy and daddy will take them to such and such place for a nice treat day out.

Presents from grandparents/aunts/uncles etc go under the tree and are from those people and thank you cards are sent.

I don't think there's a right or wrong way to be honest, it's whatever works best for your family.

Notso · 19/12/2017 19:43

Everything me and DH buy comes from Father Christmas.
Friend and family presents are from them.
Just as it was for DH and I as children. I didn't realise there was another way until DC1 started school and I spoke to other parents.

SouthWestmom · 19/12/2017 19:50

So weird to have F.C. as a postman. Where did that idea come from? All the films and cartoons are about his elves making presents.

Camomila · 19/12/2017 19:53

1 present in different wrapping paper from Father Christmas. Everything else from whoever its from...same as my parents did for us.

The Befana brings the stocking on the 6th January.

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 19/12/2017 19:54

When I was little Father Christmas brought the stocking, then a couple of presents under the tree. Everything else was from Mum and Dad or other people.

Here, Father Christmas brings the stocking only and it is filled with small, fun, Hawkins Bazaar type stuff. The reason for this according to DH is that he doesnt want Father Christmas getting the credit for the amazing and occasionally expensive gifts that we have earned the money for, planned for, shopped for and wrapped up...I can't really argue with that.

burntoutmum · 19/12/2017 19:54

All from Santa here!

Irontheshirts · 19/12/2017 19:55

All from Santa here except the gifts from Grandparents. No one else buys for them.

Shmithecat · 19/12/2017 19:55

Only stocking is from FC. Why should the fat fella get all the credit?
