I love reading the 'what have you bought for DC' threads but don't think I've seen one for GPs (or any other family members!)

Please don't turn this into a judgy thread as sometimes happens with present threads, can we just live and let live...

So

DS1 (15)
From my parents: Bluetooth earphones, Vans beanie, Batman calendar.
From MIL: Star Wars lava lamp, wallet.

DD (10)
My parents: 3D pen, emoji backpack, Roald Dahl colouring book.
MIL: Bead jewellery kit, Pass the Pen game.

DS2 (8)
My parents: Spy goggles, Lego 'Everything to know' book, thinking putty.
MIL: Lego Ninjago clock, monkey puppet.

DS(18) - currency from both sides for a forthcoming trip to Norway, plus pyjamas.
DD(15) - charm for Pandora bracelet plus pyjamas from DM, Apple music gift card from DFIL.
They always ask what to get then get precisely that. We're very lucky.

DaisysStew · 18/12/2017 23:05

Too much knowing my mum. What I know of do far: a train table, play mobile set and a pj mask car and figure.

BrieAndChilli · 18/12/2017 23:14

Nothing from my mum (no longer in contact)
Nothing from my dad (in contact but about 1 phone call/email a year)
Nothing from FIL, he doesn’t really do xmas and is normally away in Asia over xmas but he will randomly buy things throughout the year, does a lot of babysitting etc

MIL - will give each kid a massive bag of presents amongst other things
DS1 an air powered car kit thing
DD - a small sewing machine and a quixels bead craft set thing
DS2 - lego set

They will also be spoilt by my sister, SIL, DHs 2 aunts and DHs Nan.

There are some fabulously generous grandparents on here, sadly non related to my DC.

LiquoricePickle · 19/12/2017 01:24

My baby is seven and a half months old and will get a b.toys activity cube from one set of grandparents and a wooden push asking wagon with different kinds of wooden blocks from the other set. All chosen by me because we love abroad. They're perfect!

BeaLola · 19/12/2017 01:41

DS10 from MIL rugby top, boots and hooded team jacket

From my Dad and brother Adidas sock boots and football annual, shirt etc

From my Aunt Match annual and goalkeepers top

As they are all elderly 85+ they all ask me to buy and they will reimburse he.

Dad and brother give my don £5 pocket money a week since he turned 10 and a subscription to this week junior. MIL gives cash amount for savings account once a year. He is only grandchild, only nephew .

He will be chuffed - especially about the boots. He has asked for Match annual, top trumps and hair gel!

My DC have A LOT of grandparents!

My side
My gran - ds(6) nerf gun that shoots cars, extra cars, Lego, pjs and chocolate Santa
Dd(2) paw Patrol look out tower, Skye with vehicle, Marshall with vehicle, pjs and chocolate Santa
Dd(1) vtech toot toot animals playset and two animals, pjs and chocolate Santa
My mum and stepdad - hexbug battle bots, a Harry Potter themed surprise ( I’m very excited to know what it is!) Bing Bunny and Zula, Disney themed surprise. Vtech pop and roll turtle, Disney themed surprise.
My dad - nothing. He’s an asshole who refuses to acknowledge that we exist because his wife doesn’t like me because I exist 🤣
My gran (dads mum) - she has 25 grandchildren including me and my children!! So she only does gifts at big birthdays

DP’s side
His mum - my Ds will have a mountain of presents. Dds not so much
His nanny and granda - a few toys and new clothes each
His great grandparents - one set will be a small toy and the other set will be some chocolate
His other grandfather will give us a card with money in it to get the kids something.

Aunts and uncles on both sides will also spoil the kids.

goodnightfeast · 19/12/2017 02:59

I am just absolutely cringing about my DS's (3) present from my parents. We had a family photo shoot earlier this year, they had some printed, and they're giving DS a print of the two of them gazing into each other's eyes!!! GrinGrinGrinShockShockConfusedConfused

DH will not be too taken with it. He hates them at the moment and I am finding them almost unbearable these days.
What am I supposed to do with the photo? I might only put it on display when they visit!!!

Icantdancedontaskme · 19/12/2017 03:09

My parents: dd (4) playmobile hospital and mini pretend oven plus other little bits she's collected throughout the year. Dd2 (7mo) books and wooden push along toy and maybe clothing

MIL: DD1 Playmobile fairy castle and figures dd2 soft body baby Annabel boy

FIL: dd1 playmobile unicorn garden set dd2 sooty puppet and book

Peachypie83 · 19/12/2017 06:50

My mum will have gone overboard. I know she has got my DD a fingerling and a baby Annabel. I expect there will be quite a few other bits and pieces.

For DS (7 months) mostly clothes.

MIL has 12 children to buy for so it will be something small but not sure what

lovelyjubilly · 19/12/2017 10:37

MIL has apparently bought my two dd (7yo and 5yo) a 'beauty treatment' each from Bath Christmas market Confused

PodgeBod · 19/12/2017 10:44

My mum has got a kitchen for her house for all of her grandchildren to share (mine 2&1 DNephew a newborn). I know she's got other little bits but not sure what.
My dad has got DD2 a peppa pig house and DD1 a stand up piano keyboard to bash away at. He also got their advent calendars at the beginning of the month, Peppa for one and Happyland for the other.
MIL died unexpectedly at the beginning of December. She already had her presents bought and wrapped and it's going to be very surreal opening them.

PodgeBod · 19/12/2017 10:47

goodnightfeast that is hilarious Grin surely grandparents are given pictures of their grandchildren not the other way around?

TheImprobableGirl · 19/12/2017 10:51

Some more (over)generous GP’s our end too Smile it’s somewhat sad though because the kids neither want or need so much, but dh is an only child and so spoiling them is what they enjoy!

So Mil:
Dd1 (7) - barbie puppy mobile, toilet trouble, screwball scramble, pj masks headquarters, slushy maker, sparkle science, oonies starter set

Dd2 (3) - barbie camper van, hatchimal, Ben and holly rocket, lil ladybird live pet set and ladybug, and a moana heart of tefiti necklace!

DM:
Dd1- fingerling, mia and me onchau
Dd2- fingerling, mia and me mia figure

Much more reasonable!

TheImprobableGirl · 19/12/2017 10:52

Sorry to hear that podge I can imagine it will be a hard Christmas Flowers

PodgeBod · 19/12/2017 11:34

Thanks Improbable it's going to be tough but I'm looking forward to it as well. Its like a last gesture of love to us.

Carrie76 · 19/12/2017 11:47

From my parents LEGO and monopoly empire for ds1, labyrinth and hot wheels track for ds2, and Minnie Mouse Hoover and book for dd
PIL get them the same every year......absolutely nothing same on their birthdays Angry

Carrie76 · 19/12/2017 11:49

Oh podgebod that’s very hard for you all. How lovely though that you will have one last thing to remember her by Flowers

Debby08 · 19/12/2017 12:06

Really don't have any idea. Their good at surprising my 3 y/o dd and my 7 m/o would probably get rattles :)

DoubleLottchen · 19/12/2017 12:46

A zookeeper experience from one set of grandparents.

A watch and a onesie from the other.

YouCantBeSirius · 19/12/2017 14:06
