I love reading the 'what have you bought for DC' threads but don't think I've seen one for GPs (or any other family members!)

Please don't turn this into a judgy thread as sometimes happens with present threads, can we just live and let live...

So

DS1 (15)
From my parents: Bluetooth earphones, Vans beanie, Batman calendar.
From MIL: Star Wars lava lamp, wallet.

DD (10)
My parents: 3D pen, emoji backpack, Roald Dahl colouring book.
MIL: Bead jewellery kit, Pass the Pen game.

DS2 (8)
My parents: Spy goggles, Lego 'Everything to know' book, thinking putty.
MIL: Lego Ninjago clock, monkey puppet.

Inlaw
Daughter age 3- my little pony castle
Son 8 Months- a wooden activity cube thing
They’ll have got some other stuff as well and big warm coats that they buy for every birthday and Christmas because we don’t wrap them up warm enough.

My dad and step mum has got them both £40 Toys r us vouchers and something wrapped up each we haven’t opened yet (sent in the post)

I’m not sure about my mum and step dad, their gift giving is quite erratic.

MIL is a prolific knitter.

DD1 (5) is getting a knitted Chinky the elf from The Wishing Chair. This will top any other gift she gets.

DD2 (3) is getting a knitted Lily Rabbit from the CBeebies show.

Both children also get money from PILs into savings accounts.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/12/2017 18:18

I am a granny, and my Gdd, 2.8, is getting a little doll's pram - she's into her 'babies' ATM - with blanket and bedding I've made, plus a nice dress and tights.
Gds, 1.5, is getting a wooden car transporter from JL, after a recommendation. Plus some nice tops and stretchy trousers that will go over his tum!

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 18/12/2017 18:26

Nothing.
They're abusive. Me and dh bonded on stories about our parents. I'm so sad about it because I wanted to have an extended happy family. I thought they'd behave better with grandchildren than their own children. Christmas is very difficult for me.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 18/12/2017 18:34

Beverleygoldburg Flowers
you are doing the right thing. My parents were in a similar position and I gained nothing at all from the occasional contact with weird passive agressive people who clearly disliked me that they put themsleves out to arrange.
Presents from my grnadparents dried up at age 3 to "punish" me for not sending a thank you card quickly enough, anyway Confused

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 18/12/2017 18:39

DD's getting a drone and a Platform 9 3/4 alarm clock, DS2's getting a singing skeleton and we can't remember what else.

youarenotkiddingme · 18/12/2017 18:44

Ds fathers family don’t bother with him.

My mum and Dad spoil him!

I asked them to get microfibre towel as he’s a swimmer and a proper desk chair.

Since then I’ve had phone calls about vouchers, dart boards and various items of clothing!

I don’t think he’ll leave empty handed or disappointed Grin

ChristmasAddict · 18/12/2017 19:15

MIL and SFIL - Brio train track

DM and SF - Toot Toot Fire Station

FIL and SMIL - No idea, four presents have arrived, one is almost certainly clothes but clueless on the others

Ddad and SM - Nothing has arrived and they haven't mentioned anything.

DS is lucky enough to have great grandparents too and is getting toy food to go with the play kitchen we have got him and Duplo from them.

trilbydoll · 18/12/2017 22:34

Money from my parents and something little to open. It'll only be £20 each but I'm sure it'll be more use when they're 18 than toys will be! In laws are getting dc 3 presents each and I can't remember any of them except Moana dvd Confused I will be as excited as them on Christmas day!

gingerclementine · 18/12/2017 22:36

DH's DF is giving DS1 a jacket he really wants and DS2 a coat he really wants.

My parents have asked me to buy for them and sent some money. They aren't very involved and show no interest in what DC like, so I'm very happy to choose on their behalf and get DC something they actually want.

user789653241 · 18/12/2017 22:39

Ds (9)
FIL- money.
My parents- Nano blocks, sketch books, lots of stationery (note books, pens), clothes, shoes and money.
