When did it get so hard to buy stockings?

I went to six different shops today. Waitrose, next, Asda etc. None of them had any Christmas stockings-although they all had Christmas gift sacks that were presented to me as an alternative (?). In the end I managed to find a few (mostly rubbish) stockings in TKMax. Do the British just not do stockings? Or have stockings just gone out of fashion?

Dobbies Garden Centre had loads of different ones with 50% all Christmas stuff. That's if you have one nearby you.

I think maybe they have just sold out. They were in all those places a couple of weeks ago.

I saw lots in M&S today.

If you've got a sewing machine, John Lewis have some lovely Christmas fabrics in, and stockings are mercifully an easy shape to sew. And you can decide exactly what size you want to make too.

I got two nice knitted stockings in pound land. I only have one child, I buy two so I can pre-fill the spare one and then just do a stealthy swap :)

I think most places have sold out by now. Plus many people like them personalised which you are better off buying online, like a month ago

I saw a lot through the window of a (closed) charity shop in town today so that might be worth a shot.
