I just saw this on amazon and am sorely tempted...although it’ll almost certainly result in last minute menu changes! I love Nigel Slater, the way he writes is beautiful and his recipes are yummy!

Has anyone got it? Is it great? Should I get myself a little pre Christmas present?

Ha!
I've ordered this today...looks gorgeous

LoonvanBoon · 17/12/2017 14:08

I bought it, though not specifically for the recipes as have plenty, including those in Nigel's earlier books. It's just lovely to read through, beautiful writing and photos, and is getting me in the Christmas mood. I'm just reading bits here and there. Would definitely recommend.

TheOnlyPink · 17/12/2017 15:03

I have it. The recipes don't really appeal to me, but the way he writes about the season is just so wonderfully comforting, it's a delight.

I'm going to get this. It looks beautiful! I love his Kitchen Diary books. Just a fantastic read even if you don't make any of the food.

LaPampa · 17/12/2017 18:35

I love it. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Hoping to have time over Christmas to read more of it. Ha

It's an absolutely beautiful book, definitely recommend it

CoffeeMad18 · 17/12/2017 19:12

I had this book for my birthday- I love it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can see myself returning to it again.

It's made me appreciate the lead up to Christmas and the days after Christmas Day.

JezzaNotTrezza · 17/12/2017 22:33

Absolutely gorgeous book, bought a copy for myself and another as a present. I don't really anticipate using it as a recipe book, just a beautiful festive artifact which will come out every year.

abbey44 · 17/12/2017 22:35

It's on my Christmas list - I absolutely love his books. He writes so beautifully.

It has been half price in WH Smith's & Waterstones. I did get a little irritated with his perfect lifestyle by the end.

mrsreynolds · 18/12/2017 10:47

Mine is arriving today!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 18/12/2017 19:42

I bought it for myself and spent all day yesterday flicking through. It's lovely, not for the recipes as such which are the typical "modern British " much beloved of the sleb chef, but the anecdotes are lovely.

dementedma · 18/12/2017 19:52

I'm getting it for Christmas from my mum!

IamEarthymama · 18/12/2017 21:42

I borrowed it from the Library last week, it's really lovely, beautifully illustrated and I like his writing style.
I have been browsing through when I sit down with a hot drink. I feel really guilty with my instant coffee as I am sure Nigel would be shocked so I have had mulled apple juice and proper hot chocolate today. Smile

PrivateParkin · 18/12/2017 21:53

Yes recommended! I haven't actually made anything from it etc, bit his writing is so good - and the pictures are great as well, lots of vintage festive stuff.
Nigel would be shocked made me laugh!!
