Presents for 17 year old boy

DS is very laid back and basically won't say he wants anything. Present buying is made more difficult by the fact that his birthday is boxing day, so we need double the number of ideas. He's quite geeky but does also go out a lot with friends (cinema, bowling etc, we are getting some vouchers for this).
Any thoughts? Please help!

Clothes, Swiss Army Knife, posters or framed pictures for his room, new bedding (odd but if it's fun stuff that can be good)

I’ve got my ds 17 a few bits this year. I agree it’s a hard age to buy for.
My ds is now driving so we can’t gift him driving lessons.
I got him
Some clothing, socks, a VR headset, decent quality beard trimmer ( he has a full beard that he struggles to shave)
Chocolate

He wanted the new Xbox but it’s very expensive and he has enough cash to buy that himself.

Cinema giftcard? Voucher for his favourite clothes shop? Amazon gift card? Money is what most teenagers want more than anything else really.

gingerclementine · 16/12/2017 09:50

What are his interests? By late teens most boys are clearly either sporty or musicians or computer/gaming geeks.

My DTeens are easy as they're music obsessed so it's always guitars/guitar pedals/synthesizers/ gig tickets etc. Does he have a similar hobby?

I'd get: Tickets for Reading Festival/live gigs of his favourite bands/Band tee shirts
or
Tickets to his favourite sporting event/new sports gear
or
New games/Gaming gear/phone/laptop/drone if he's a tech geek

Does he have a favourite clothes shop? Vouchers for there, or ask one of his friends if there's a coat or jacket he has his eye on.

Good trainers or walking boots?

If he goes bowling a lot - how about his own bowling shoes?
