Waitrose wrapping paper is utter shit this year

I'm not even exaggerating.

It has quite nice patterns, but it feels so so cheap, it creases and rips, and I can't, for the life of me, get a good crisp edge. There'll be no smoothly running the scissors from one edge to the other without snipping.

It's like the type of paper Primary School Santa's gave presents wrapped in in 1985.

You have been warned.

First world problems...

FaFoutis · 15/12/2017 20:26

...are still problems.

Allwashedup · 15/12/2017 20:28
Hmm

Best paper this year is from primark. Genuinely.

But don’t but it all, I might need some more.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/12/2017 20:30

I was going to get mine tomorrow Sad

SylviaTietjens · 15/12/2017 20:32

I picked up some from WHSmith this year and it’s really good quality. I always used to get John Lewis paper but it was rubbish last year so I thought I’d branch out.

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 15/12/2017 20:33

I must disagree with you OP. I had some lovely paper from Waitrose last week... really nice woodland animals design on a nice brown paper style background. In fact, it was SO nice that when daughter saw me wrapping son's presents in it she had a pout and moaned as HER presents weren't wrapped in it (they have different papers so I don't have to bother with tags for them). She's 22. Now that's what you call a First World Problem.

RestingGrinchFace · 15/12/2017 20:33

I've got the spotty one, it's not that bad.

RandomUsernameHere · 15/12/2017 20:35

I've just bought 3 rolls from Waitrose and it's quite thin, agree with you OP

Fellia · 15/12/2017 20:35

Running the scissors from one end to the other is the best feeling though misses point.

Tidypidy · 15/12/2017 20:37

Wilko have some lovely papers this year

Stickerrocks · 15/12/2017 20:38

Strongly recommend Flying Tiger's paper at only £1 per roll. It's probably exactly the same quality as my John Lewis paper, but a quarter of the price for an endless roll.

AnonEvent · 15/12/2017 20:40

Ah Mars... you could be onto something, maybe the brown-background parcel type paper is better, we got six rolls, one was quite good (metallic gold with white stars), the patterned stuff, bloody awful.

Sainsburys is see through

Lentilbaby · 15/12/2017 20:46

Hoping Paperchase have got a lovely kiddies wrapping paper 🤞🏼

BakerBear · 15/12/2017 20:50

M&S is the same im not impressed with their wrapping paper this year as it keeps ripping

MirrorMouse · 15/12/2017 20:52

Totally recommend Oxfam wrapping paper. It is actual thick brown paper, printed with nice designs. I buy this every year. Looks great, tasteful, super strong, easy to wrap with, and benefits Oxfam.

TwinningIt · 15/12/2017 21:08

I agree it's rubbish. I can run the scissors end to end, but when you wrap the paper wrinkles and looks really, really cheap. Not impressed!

missyB1 · 15/12/2017 21:11

I’ve bought M&S paper and I love it! Really thick, glossy and lovely to cut. I looked at the waitrose ones but didn’t like any of the designs, I’m glad about that now!

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 15/12/2017 21:29

Bugger just ordered some from John Lewis

MaximumVolume · 15/12/2017 21:32

We got 14m of green paper with penguins from M&S & it's good. Grid on the back & everything.

SellFridges · 15/12/2017 21:33

Agreed. No grid or anything.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 15/12/2017 21:37

Wilkos is fab
👍🏼

Juanbablo · 15/12/2017 21:38

I bought the metallic gold with white stars and the tape won't bloody stick to it! The presents keep coming undone!

The silver with white snowflakes and brown paper with red patterns is fine.

PartridgeInAPetri · 15/12/2017 21:47

Wilkos rips when you corner it. I'm disappointed. I love the stag pattern.
