Can anyone help my elderly Dad? Looking for outdoors Christmas lights where transformer can also be outside.

Needs to be something he can buy online really as no obvious places nearby. I'm guessing he needs more expensive / better quality lights, but he doesn't want to buy and then find they also have non-waterproof transformer!
(I realise he maybe just needs to phone John Lewis or something, but thought if any MNers had bought some recently, it'd be an easy fix . . . )

Not the same but I just bought (quite nice and admired by neighbours) waterproof battery lights from Amazon for about a tenner. They are twinkly rather than rivals to Blackpool but I am v pleased so far

Studio Catalogue has lots of indoor/outdoor lights and a Dri-Box for £11.99 which you can use to put indoor transformers into, making the transformers watertight.

I suggested that duriandurian, but he was worried about battery life. Do they take rechargables? I think twinkly would be absolutely fine, its to go in a smallish tree (magnolia perhaps?)

Ah - dri-box might be an even better option given I think he has lights already.

Dri box is what you're after providing the lights are outdoor lights. Indoor lights aren't waterproof so can't be used outside at all. If the lights are outdoor lights you plug them into the dri box which is waterproof and seals tight you then run the plug for that back indoors (under a garage door is usually easy if you haven't got an outside plug point).

We also have battery powered ones. They are still on the same batteries that were used for a month last year.
