We love board games, but now they're teens we can't agree which one. Help me find some new one

We regularly play board games with our three teens (15 - 18) now they're more independent it's been great to have a fun family activity. However recently we just can't agree on what to play so clearly need to buy some new games, but what? Our regulars are, risk, monopoly, taboo, articulate, cranium, pictionary, scrabble, poker, trivia. Between the five of us each game is loved and loathed. Any ideas?

We have an independent toy shop near us which does some quirky little games - Dobble is one which is simple yet great fun. We also love Mapominoes (sp?)

I love pandemic, it's a cooperative game and you have to discuss and plan your moves together. There's expansion packs for it too so of you get bored of it you can change it up. I've played it with both mine and my DH family and everyone's enjoyed it!

We like a bit of an eclectic mix - if you want something requiring a bit of thought, I'd recommend settlers of catan, dominion, or maybe takenoko. For more party style games I'd definitely suggest apples to apples - it's the clean version of cards against humanity and we love it

Rummikub

dementedma · 10/12/2017 09:58

Linky is fun and doesn't have a board which you all have to get around so easy to play

BrieAndChilli · 10/12/2017 10:00

The Wikipedia board game

Those who like Ticket to Ride - do you have the original or Europe version? Looks like one we would enjoy , wondering which set to get Xmas Smile

Sidge · 10/12/2017 10:19

Pass the Bomb is fun.

I’ve just bought Funemployed for DD1 who is 19, at her request. She wants it to play with her uni friends.

ChippyMinton · 10/12/2017 10:20

One of our favourites is Mexican Train, based on 12-spot dominoes.

indignatio · 10/12/2017 10:22

Munchkin. We love it

INeedNewShoes · 10/12/2017 10:33

We have Europe but my friends have all the other versions (they're TTR fanatics Grin) and all are good, each with slightly different twists/additional interest.

I'd start with either the original or Europe as the others are more complicated so I chose to get used to the more basic versions first.

MachiKoro · 10/12/2017 10:34

Chippy- we have original, and UK/Pennsylvania version. I think we all like Pennsylvania best... UK is more complicated, and usually we just want to play for fun. Pennsylvania is v similar to original, with bonus points for stocks, so less to think about.
Original is just fab, so we're always happy to play that.
We haven't played Europe though... our close friends just bought it, so I'm sure we'll play it soon.

Go old instead and get Rat Race. Made by the people who made Monopoly but so much better! We introduced my in-laws to it and they want to play every time we meet up! You can usually get it on eBay.
