Christmas food musts

Inspired by the AIBU thread about Christmas treats that are no longer available...
It’s our first Christmas in the UK for a few years. What Christmas foods should we go for? DH isn’t a fan of turkey and as it’s just the 3 of us, I can’t be bothered. I plan on stocking up on nibbles and treats, but what should we go for?

Nuts, cheese -lots of esp a good cheddar and mexicana spicy cheese. Big gammon ham - will feed you the whole week ideal for sandwiches and salads. M&s party food. I like to do a range of buffet items then eat it all week. I do some good home made chinese or thai food as I get sick of heavy stuff with gravy. We tend to do a few days of heavy xmas food then lots of salads and picky bits.

Our musts:
Christmas Eve - Chinese takeaway or meal out (must be Chinese though)

Breakfast: croissants/pancakes/salmon and scrambled egg on toast

The main event: prawn cocktail starter, gammon, chicken (we don’t like turkey much), pigs in blankets, sausagemeat stuffing and a fruity stuffing, yorkies, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sprouts, carrots, cauliflower cheese, gravy, cranberry sauce, bread sauce

Dessert: Black Forest Gateau, Christmas pud, brandy butter, raspberry pavlova

Snacks:
Honey roasted cashews/peanuts, CHEESE, Buck’s Fizz, all day! Cheese filled footballs, Turkish delight, coconut ice, variety of mint chocolate, charcuterie, pickles, posh crisps, popcorn, did I say cheese?!...

We always have lots of party food over the Christmas period too. Hope that helps. Grin

Tell me more about these cheese filled footballs...

Good local cheese
Turkish delight
Twiglets
Nuts
Nice pate
Florentines
Lindt chocolate balls
Macarons

We are having roast beef as I hate turkey.
Party food for Boxing Day from Iceland’s and Tesco.

spam88 cheese footballs - they’re so good, probably full of absolute crap but we love them!

Oh I'd always assumed they were just like cheese puffs!

Runs to Tesco...
