So DD told me this morning she really wanted a fingerling for Christmas, I've explained that they are out of stock everywhere (true) but I preempted this month's ago when the unicorn fingerlings had just been released and bought one. She's going to freak out, I'm going to pop a note in saying he was the last one too Xmas Grin

What are you getting your kids that they are not expecting?

I am loving this thread .... DS 10, iPhone 6 and a Man U kit ...... he doesn't think he is allowed either ! I'm not sure who will be more excited him or us ! Lol. Love the wind tunnel/sky diving experience- I've done both and highly recommend the wind tunnel.

DS (5) is getting the live action beauty and the beast DVD from us and a snuggly beast from his dsis (10). He will literally melt with joy. She saved up her own money for it and planned a shopping trip specially to find one.

In return she is getting a phone. I honestly can't wait!

Ds 8 isn’t getting a laptop and professional camera

Dd 6 a Nintendo 2ds

Dd 1 one of those scooters where you can change the handle and add a seat. She loves trying to use the older twos scooters.

They are their big ticket items that I know they want but they wouldn’t think they will get.

Dd(12) is getting Dan and Phil tickets. She hasn't got a clue as we told her they sold out in 2 minutes, which they did but we got very lucky getting them direct from the venue.
She is going to go crazy.

DD is getting what she asked for (bike and fingerling) but I also got her a Cinderella doll. She's big into Barbie-type dolls at the moment and her imaginative play has come on hugely, so I suspect it's going to be what's played with most over the next few years.

DS is getting a whole load of take and play trains he isn't expecting (thanks ebay) and a marble run which he will love

DD is getting a cuddly Duggee. She hasn't asked for it but loves Hey Duggee. I don't even think she knows Duggee toys exist

A cars 3 race track that's 5 foot long . He's getting the bus he asked for (but a red one not a yellow one like he asked for) hope he likes it - it's more for daddy than 3 year old!

Pretty much everything for teen DS1. All he wants is some chocolates! I'm also missing the days when half the Argos catagloue would be on the list.

There's a few things.

I don't believe he suspects he's getting a new Xbox one.

He had a really old hand me down xbox from BIL a few years back and it's been a nightmare. Constantly breaking and needing to be fixed. Well, a couple of days ago it died completely. Thankfully I decided that since DS is almost 10, and he loves gaming that he should get his own new one.

I think he'll be thrilled.

Ds2 9 is allways using up my shampoos bubble bath making soap water and doing experiments in the bath and is for ever getting shouted at for it so iv put together a set just for him. Werid and wonderfully body wash (chocolate. Bubble gum Bakewell tart smelling) cheap bubble bath, water changing tablets and slime for the bath. He can use them as he wishh's

Also put together a box each of food drinks that I don't normally buy them. Pepper Ronnie sticks. Big bottle if coke each bicutes kraves ceral etc box of chocolates. That they don't have to share.

So did they all love the surprise gifts? DS loves the Lego Mindstorms, he couldn't believe it. He opened everything else and I said , wait a minute there is something else, first was a book on how to programme it , he opened that and his face was incredible. He looked at the big box still to be opened and kept saying I can't believe it. Worth every penny 😀 altough the constant whirring sound of the robot is starting to drive me up the wall

My daughter loved her toolbox. She has carried it around and fixed everything since. She insisted on having it on her knee for the 90 minute journey to the inlaws. She loves it.

Aw just read this thread and it's lovely! DD really wanted a LOL big surprise but it was way out of budget and sold out so she knew she wasn't getting one. I won one the week before Christmas and when she unwrapped it she was so excited she toppled off the sofa Grin

Loving this thread.

DD has SEN and chronic disease, she loves looking at American girls dolls on YouTube, would never ask for one due to cost. Well we managed to buy one and get it sent over, she was completely thrilled with it. The doll hasent left her side.

When DS realised there was no Father Christmas I tried to explain that what actually happens at Christmas is more magical. As parents we go to such great lengths to find whatever our children want, whether it be big or small, expensive or cheap. If we find a great thing we say to our friends their DC may also like this. If it is hard to get we invoke the power of Mumsnet and our friends and family to find it. We hide everything and keep everything secret. When they still believe we are happy to let the bloke in red take the credit for everything. We do everything to make they wake up on Christmas Day and have what they want, whether it is expected or unexpected. This thread is such a goog illustration of that.

Aw great thread. DS5 is only allowed ask for 1 or 2 things, so most of his presents are surprises. One of the things he asked for was a small Trash Wheels set that was not only discontinued a few years ago but seems to have had a fairly limited release outside Australia. I found a UK ebay listing with the set he wanted, plus another larger set and managed to win it for a price far, far lower than buying just the little one from Australia. He was over the moon with it, the sets connect together which was something that really appealed to him and something he was sad he wouldn't be able to to with the set he asked for. So he absolutely adores having 2.

I also got him extra bits to go with the other present he asked for which was a Half Shell Heroes playset. It only came with one turtle and Splinter, so wouldn't have have a lot of playability without the other turtles and some villains. So I got him extra characters and a few vehicles, mainly in an ebay bundle. And his stocking had some great stuff I knew he seriously wanted like Lego tape, some other discontinued cars he loves, a Ninjago Airjitzu flier and Top Trumps including the coveted Shopkins set.

Ds1 always asks santa for the new home / away / third footy kit for his adored team.

As his gift off us this year, id been watching eBay all year for vintage kits in his size. Managed to get five in total, with key players from the last ten or so yearson them. He's absolutely over the moon with them. Cost less than the one new one too!
