So DD told me this morning she really wanted a fingerling for Christmas, I've explained that they are out of stock everywhere (true) but I preempted this month's ago when the unicorn fingerlings had just been released and bought one. She's going to freak out, I'm going to pop a note in saying he was the last one too Xmas Grin

PS4

Ds(9) will be astounded! I don’t “do” consoles and am big on fresh air and exercise. I have asked around and he genuinely is the only boy in his class without one.

Enko · 10/12/2017 19:47

Tickets to see a comedian they all love. They don't even know he is touring so their faces are going to be utterly brilliant. I can't wait Xmas Grin

OneMoStep · 10/12/2017 20:01

Aw, some of these are lovely 💛.

lolalotta · 10/12/2017 20:11

A skateboard for my 8 year old DD.

jocktamsonsbairn · 10/12/2017 20:17

DD desperately wants an iPad mini but they are way out of my budget so she will be delighted with the refurbished one I've got her (bargain!!) . DS. Got a new bed 2 months ago so won't be expecting the XBox elite controller he really wants (and is saving for) plus the £50 game which s what he has asked for. Can't wait to see their faces - something to look forward to even though the magic has gone (both teens)!

BusySittingDown · 10/12/2017 21:14

DD1 is getting a phone.

She is desperate for one but I’ve told her that there’s not a chance in hell that she’ll be getting a one in the near future. I’ve said that I might consider her getting one when she goes to high school in September.

All of her friends have phones so she often whines about how left out she is. I still think that she’s a bit young for one but she’s going to absolutely wet herself with excitement on Christmas Day and I can’t wait Grin.

xmasstress · 10/12/2017 21:25

Got my 11 year old a laptop ( very basic notebook) but she isn't expecting one because she knows they cost a a lot. She will be very happy on xmas day

NualaCassia · 10/12/2017 21:26

An iPad each with Osmo gaming kit plus extra base.

I know they would both LOVE one but they haven’t asked as they know —think— the answer would be no.

Ds1 wants to learn coding and Ds2 loves drawing and making stop motion videos. I managed to get a great deal on 2 refurbished iPad 2s and the Osmo gaming system covers the basics of coding and the drawing. We got Ds2 stikbot Zanimation to go with it.

They are going to be so excited when they open them. I can’t wait.

Retired Lego! DS 8 is autistic and is fixated on bionicles and now some Atlantis Lego sets but we told him they aren't sold anymore. Ebay to the rescue.

Also they are sharing a Playmobil rocket. Pretty sure this is the last Santa year (DD also autistic is 10.5) and I have been going on for ages that they can't have more Playmobil... Naughty Santa Xmas Grin

Also not a child but DH is getting the harry potter deck builder. Ordered it from America and I reckon he has no idea it even exists, I can't wait to see his face

JezzaNotTrezza · 11/12/2017 09:36

DS(9) - Dan TDM t-shirt, Adidas watch, Lego Ninjago Movie Blu-ray, maybe Star Wars Battlefront 2Smile

Thisandthat2017 · 11/12/2017 09:58

The news we are getting a dog. We have been waiting on a particular breeder for some time and we recently got the news that pups are due week after Xmas. The kids will be so pleased, the timing couldn't be better.

chocolateavocado99 · 11/12/2017 10:05

An annual pass to a water park that they love going to but it is quite expensive. New bikes - they have no idea of either!

Isadora2007 · 11/12/2017 13:01

Awww thisandthat2017 how exciting! Are you going to buy some accessories for the pup to give them clues or just announce it?

Dd(8) will be super surprised by getting an iPhone. It’s her big sisters old one as she got a recent upgrade. Dd has asked for a phone but we said not before her 9th birthday and maybe not even then. She is a really hard working gymnast and devotes so much dedication and time to her hobby so we wanted to reward that with this surprise.

Ds(5) will be surprised by a gaming chair as we told him we had no room for one and he just needed to use his beanbag.

Big DD probably won’t be surprised at all- she is impossible to surprise. Maybe I will get her and her boyfriend a spa day...

Big ds will be surprised by the poncho I bought him !

OhHolyFuck · 11/12/2017 13:07

I genuinely love this thread, feel all warmed that there will be all these excited, loved children utterly thrilled come Christmas morning

Natsku · 11/12/2017 13:19

A few things that I can't remember now except for a crocheted toy cow with massive udders (it made me giggle when I saw it in the shop) and a Littlest Pet Shop sticker book that I know she'll love.

poorbuthappy · 11/12/2017 13:21

Taylor Swift tickets.
They may also be for me.... Xmas Grin

heron98 · 11/12/2017 14:13

Can I just ask a question about this "acre of the moon", "name a star" stuff:

  1. who owns these things to sell them?
  2. is it legally or centrally recorded anywhere?

it just sounds like a big con to me.

Littlestchristmastree · 11/12/2017 14:39

Heron I have no idea and it probably is a big con but it was a Groupon deal for a few quid and she will love it, being 5 she won't particularly care about the legalities. It comes with a nice certificate and a map of her area with her name. It will probably be forgotten in a few years but she will feel so special 'owning' a piece of her biggest idol "the moon!!" and maybe once humans occupy the moon in a few years and are desperate for a piece of land she'll be one step ahead 😁

MaroonPencil · 11/12/2017 14:49

Ds1 is getting a laptop. Hopefully. I haven't bought it yet. He will be astounded as I have told him over and over again he isn't getting a laptop because they cost too much. I was swayed by the fact he has had a tough year health-wise and his brother is getting a relatively expensive bike.

OTOH DS2 really wants a 2DS and I have similarly told him no way, partly because he got a normal DS only six months ago, and mostly because we have already got him said expensive bike. I am a bit torn now - I could get him a second hand one for around £50 from Cmex and say it is from his brother but that would be a lot to spend on what is not his main present. But the fact I have got (or will get) DS1 the laptop after saying "no no no" makes me feel DS2 will be a bit "hang on, how come he gets that and I don't get a 2DS?" He will probably have to wait until his birthday though.

I'd love to be one of those DC getting Hamilton tickets!

TitsalinaBumSqoosh · 11/12/2017 14:56

We're getting a family PS4 that I have spent all year telling them that there is no way I'll be getting one for the household as we already have an Xbox and a switch... my kids are spoilt. 🤔

Janika · 12/12/2017 07:31

Pyjamaface

My DS comes home from work every day with pockets full of plumbing bits - I may just wrap them up.....

Haudyerwheesht · 12/12/2017 07:34

Dd (7) a Smiggle bag and LOL big surprise. She knows I think Smiggle is a massive waste of money and that LOL are out of stock and vvvvvvv expensive. She's really good value for shocked faces and surprise squeals so I can't wait!

Ds (11) an iPhone - he's tentatively asked for one but I don't think he believes he'll get it. Also a football signed by players of team he goes to watch most weekends.

😁😁😁😁😁

ScrabbleFiend · 12/12/2017 07:45

An iPad, he's been saving for one for over a year but still nowhere near. He'd never ask for one. I got a good deal on a reconditioned one, I'm going to hide it at the back of the tree and give it to him last. Can't wait to see his face.

Ikeameatballs · 12/12/2017 07:53

Dd (11) is getting an HP Sprocket to print photos from her phone.
Ds (8) is getting a ramp for his scooter to practice stunts on.

They are getting other things but they are the surprises.

lostlalaloopsy · 12/12/2017 07:55

These are lovely!! This is the best part of Christmas.

After several years of moaning, we have given in and got Dd a tv for her room. We told her she couldn't get one till she's 12 and I know how excited she will be when she sees it!!
