I asked my friend what her 11 and a half year old son was into and she said rugby, minecraft and funny books! Can you lovely people recommend some funny books for an 11 year old boy please? MY DS is not yet three so I have no experience! Thank you in hope!!

The World Cup of Everything by Richard Osman www.waterstones.com/book/the-world-cup-of-everything/richard-osman/9781473667266
Does It Far by Dani Rabaiotti and Nick Caruso
How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You

If he's a good reader, I'd recommend How Not To Be A Boy by Robert Webb

How about a joke book?

MaroonPencil · 08/12/2017 12:55

The Dark Lord series
Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy?

My class (10 year olds) love David Baddiel. A girl bought a set for me at the end of last year but I'm definitely too old as I found them so cliched!

They are currently enjoying books by Tom Fletcher such as Christmasaurus which look interesting.

DD's older now, but I remember the Rugby Zombies books by Dan Anthony being popular when she was that age. (Also less well known than David Walliams et al, so he's less likely to have read them)

Mine likes the series my brother is a superhero, my gym teacher is an alien overlord etc.

He has read all the mr gum but a couple of years ago, might be a bit young.

Terry Pratchett? If the Tiffany aching books are a bit long and daunting there are a couple of short story collections which are very funny. Dragons at crumbling castle is one, can't remember the other.

Some Pullman is funny. Have a look at the new cut gang stories.

The storey treehouse books are funny, but might be a bit young for an 11 year old. Anthony Horowitz writes funny books and my sons also like David Baddiel - The person controller was a big hit.

BWatchWatcher · 08/12/2017 20:43

Yes yes to the Dark Lord series!

Wilhamenawonka · 08/12/2017 21:03

You could start him on the Terry Pratchett books. The 11yr old boy i know loves them and if he likes them you're all set for years of birthday/Christmas presents

My son found Who Let The God's Out? and Simply The Quest really hilarious. Terry Pratchett def. also a winner, but he's likelier to have them already, I suspect.

Sorry - that apostrophe was a stray!

This is the book.
