Live screening of The Nutcracker

Going to this at Odeon Lincoln tomorrow night. Has anyone ever been?

I guess there will be an interval?

Does it feel much different to a normal cinema show? Does anyone dress up a bit?

I haven't managed to get to one yet but a friend's DC is at the Royal Ballet School so she goes frequently. And my DD has been with her. During the interval, they usually have interviews with cast members and people like Darcey Bussell- so it isn't 'dead time' for the cinema audience.
Not sure about the dressing up...this may vary from location to location. My DD wore snart/casual clothes (a dress but not a part dress iyswim).

I am going to see this at the ROH later this month. On their web site there are more details about the production. I don’t think cinema goers would dress up and most don’t at the ROH either! Just enjoy it. The dancers will be fabulous tomorrow night! The scenery is always amazing too.

I used to work these. Like Ginglebelle said there is an interval as such but there is interviews etc so if you wanted to stay put you would be entertained.
Some people do tend to dress quiet smart and make an occasion of it. But don't feel that you have too.
Its a beautiful show, I absolutely loved it every time I went. Enjoy :D

I've been to a few. Would recommend. Nobody seems to dress any differently than they would for the ordinary cinema showings. Agree even the ROH is similar in dress for most, casual/smart casual!

They serve coffee and ice creams at the showings I've been to, just as they would at the theatre.

I went to war of the worlds and there was an intermission, like in old days with someone selling ice-cream from a tray

It’s a beautiful production! I’ve seen it twice in the cinema, nobody dressed up. I’m also going to the ROH to watch it later this month and cannot wait!

Oh I would love to see this. I don’t know whether to go to running club or this!

OP I’ve been to a few live screenings. People def don’t dress up, it’s ok to get up during the interval (loo, drink).

What you lose in atmosphere you gain in having the best view!

The only think I found was that I wanted to clap but people. Maybe I should try and introduce it.

I am going to this as long as the cinema hasn't mixed up our tickets - I am nervous because there was a problem when I booked and they phoned me to confirm but I have accidentally thrown away the confirmation code!
I go to a lot of live screenings at our wonderful local independent cinema. Sometimes we applaud because there is a learning disabled man who is an opera buff and he always applauds whether anyone else does or not and sometimes it catches on Grin
I generally have a glass of wine in the interval and ds2 gets pick'n'mix.

We went to see the Royal Ballet production at our local Vue cinema last year. No one really dressed up like they might do at a theatre, but it was very like being at a theatre performance. We probably got a better view than people who had paid more to be at the Royal Opera House! It was wonderful and I wish we had booked to go and see the Bolshoi version this year.

We went to see the Bolshoi Nutcracker on Sunday afternoon at Vue and just wore jeans (mind you, I wear jeans to live theatre, so I'm no real gauge...)

The showing was cancelled Angry

Also just back. Excellent, specially the second act.
Ds2 struggled a bit to sit still by the end because he was so tired (I was meant to be taking his older sister but she was ill) but he got a lot out of it especially the music. He is going to watch Fantasia tomorrow!

Who were the principal dancers in ROH Nutcracker this time?

I remember Mariinsky Swan Lake was particularly good at one of these screenings, and as it's live it didn't all go quite according to plan with the presenting, in a not unpleasant way, and it was all very entertaining.

Just got back from watching this, it was fabulous. I particularly liked Clara, Francesca Hayward.

Loved it. Clara was beautiful. I caught myself starting to clap a couple of times.

Favourite bit was the eastern / Indian style dance - the three men, one woman.

Men's tights a bit distracting. What do they keep down there - cats?

Will definitely go again, and maybe see Sean Lake in the Summer.

I saw Francesca dance the sugar plum fairy last year at the roh and tonight at cinema. She is beautiful
I'm now a super fan.

Yes the mens white trousers were ...snug.
How do potential professional ballerinas prevent their breasts from growing? They all were really flat chested. Do you get asked to leave ballet school if you get too big ?
