Any ideas of things children could make as gifts for a few relatives??

My kids love making things and I thought a cheap and thoughtful gift from them to grandparents, Aunties etc could be something homemade. We tried some cookies for a trial but they weren't brilliant, I had thought we could wrap them in cellophane with a ribbon, any ideas? Not necessarily food.

Fimo or clay tree decorations? Or baked salt dough - they could paint them or decorate them with glitter. Just make sure you add a hole for a hanging ribbon before baking/drying!

My nieces decorated magnetic photo frames one year (so can be stuck on the fridge) and added photos of themselves. They were lovely.

We made some pretty pencil/pen pots one year with jam jars and bands of adhesive ribbon from hobbycraft. You can also cover jam jars with ripped tissue paper, modge podge and sprinkle with glitter for a slightly more gaudy look! We have also done tray bakes like rocky road which is really simple to make, or gingerbread men.

How old are the children? We’ve done fabric paint footprints on hankies and tea towels in the past.

We usually make something edible, cookies, gingerbread or muffins. This year it will be stained glass window biscuits.

I honestly don't think it matters what they look or taste like, it's more getting DC used to the idea that they give as well as receive at Christmas.

I have found pretty tins/boxes etc in Home Bargains and Ikea that weren't too expensive.

If you worry wont taste good how about layering ingedients for cookiies in a nice jar with label how to make?

We're making bath bombs. Amazingly easy and fun to make. End result looks really professional too.

Someone on here posted the idea of " why I love you" lolly sticks in a jar. Write messages for what you love about granny or auntie in a decorated coffee jar. You can get the fat lolly sticks of Amazin for £1.50.

We made chocolate truffles one year.

If you want something edible then chocolate bark is a good one. Just melt a bar or chocolate & pour out on to greaseproof paper let the kids go mad with sprinkles, marshmallows etc then break it up once it's set & wrap in cellophane with a ribbon, looks really nice.

We’re gonna have a go at making hand shaped planters. You need casting concrete and some rubber gloves. Then plant with some succulents.
Last year we made bath bombs and in the past we’ve made fridge magnets, decorated photo frames and made bird feeders.
We do something every year for great Granny, gps and my bro and sil. Now the twins are 9 we’re trying something a bit more adventurous! No idea what it’ll turn out like!

We planted mini spring bulbs in nice pots and decorated the pots. They looked lovely. We might do that again this year

I used to make and paint marzipan fruits when I was little for the neighbours - quite old fashioned but good fun.

Bit late to the party but what about making Christmas bracelets? My cousin's son made of these for a charity event a few years back and they were lovely.

I'm decorating mugs for grandparents with my dd. Plain white mugs from Wilkos for around £1 each, then you can draw on them with Sharpies and bake them in the oven to set. Could also make hot chocolate cones or something to put in the mug and wrap it all up in cellophane.

Biscotti. The main cooking can be done in advance, then finished nearer the day, and in an airtight jar/wrapping they can last for a month. They won't because they taste too good. My Mum & Dad request them every year. Search Fruity Biscotti on the BBC Good Food website. It's a very popular recipe on there with lots of useful comments added by people who've made them.
