“Useful” stocking fillers for kids

I’ve got the fun stocking stuff sorted but usually add a few things that are useful (and they often turn out to be favourites) I’ve previously got things like swimming goggles, torches etc. Dd is getting some hair accessories and they’ll both get some stationery. Does anyone have any ideas particularly for a 6 year old boy?

Thanks

Yes, I always have a small cuddly toy unwrapped peeking out of the top, and a bigger present alongside. Now they’re a bit bigger they’ll get annuals and they will go next to it.

Pens
Socks

Does anyone know where to get the light up zippers?

We've always done pillow cases rather than stockings. Same when I was a child. I suspect it started because we always had annuals, and they are pretty big, and now it's just become tradition. We don't come close to actually filling a pillow case btw!
I'm excited about these zipper pulls though, off to Google...

I've got Ds1 (4) a telescopic magnet - it's pen sized but extends to a couple of feet and can pick up about 2kg (apparently) - £2-3 at Amazon or you can get them in Wilko and similar in the small tools section

Also a mini tape measure, mini spirit level, socks, a variety of Dinosaur things, personalised t-shirt, mini torch, head torch, flavoured milk straws - he's got far more than will fit in his stocking even though its massive so I might hold some over until his birthday in the spring

If blu tak was a big hit then how about sugru?

willow where did you get the personalised nutella jars from? I went to Selfridges but they don't do them anymore!

I stuffed a trendy Hoody in my 17 yr old's stocking last year. That was almost all he got in there, but exactly what he wanted.

Argh. Just lost a post.

In haste:

Second the light saber torches - dc have had for last couple of years and have gone down very well - got for a couple of pounds in Home Bargains.

Home Bargains/B&M great for stocking fillers. Ds2's best (!) birthday present was a £1.50 stress buster banana from B&M that would make an ideal surreal stocking filler. But also fun soap etc, hair gel or wax if getting into that, fun flavour lip salve, cheap art and stationery supplies, American sweets, odd bits and bobs, kids kitchen utensils and so much more!

SatsukiKusakabe · 03/12/2017 08:48

That banana sounds great. I will have a look in there.

I did quite well yesterday in Tiger - shark stapler and crocodile scissors, extendable ruler on a keyring, a watercolour set.

Any ideas where I can get decent but cheap hair accessories, I was going to get dd one of those big bows but they are 8 quid in Claire’s Shock everything seemed expensive in there.

Looked up sugru - that does look cool, always learning something here!

Thank you for the zip light link, I’m going to have to pass as have awkward names it seems. Can find my son’s initial at least, but not my daughter’s and can’t give her a written on one from Santa, she’d be sad that even he can’t get hold of her name Grin
