Lego/Meccano to challenge 12 year old

My 12 year old DS has asked for Lego for Xmas and I wondered if anyone knew of any that would offer him a challenge. I was wondering about Meccano as well. He loves Lego but the moment he's built it he never plays with it again therefore it needs to be some that will take him a while! Thanks.

Have a look at the Lego 16+ section , we have loads of it and it’s perfectly ok for most 12 yo . Depending on budget the Camoer van is a nice build as is the Houses of Parliament and the Carousel . They have also just released the 2008 Taj Mahal model again which is what I will be getting .
