Jigsaws. She’s housebound and still enjoys them (even though she needs to use a magnifying glass to see the pieces)

An annual subscription for her favourite magazine.

Magazine subscription here too, also for 80+ year old. Plus a jigsaw, a book, DVD about lovely gardens. Calendar & diary at her request. Then stocking fillers, mainly practical things she'll use up

Oh and some mini jams and chutneys so she gets a variety.

Strictly Come Dancing tour tickets, she is mad about it.
Might also look into Joanna Lumley tour as she pretty much has all stuff she wants.

My mother is 87 and very active - I've in the past got her: tickets to a ballet, a manicure, a hair appointment (she goes every week), hand cream, face cream, lunch for two (with my father), framed photograph of my DD. I used to buy a piece of Lladro but she requested no more "things" a few years ago.

I'm getting my mum the ancestry.com DNA testing kit, a photo calendar of the kids and a mini photo book of a holiday we took together last year. The kids will also make a decoration or something. And a copy of the kid's school photo in the size she wants.

Sadly lost mine too, very suddenly if I could go back I would have absolutely spoiled her rotten!! I was student and didn't earn much but I should have saved every penny to spoil her, she was devoted mother. I always appreciated her deeply but since seeing Mil in action... Wow... Spoil your mums!

I'm buying mine a watch that she'll be able to read the numbers on - I've noticed she's always squinting at her current watch as it has a shiny face and she can't always make out what the time is!
