Hi there, I'd like to buy a friend's son something fun and art related (he's a really talented artist).

BUT I don't want to give my friend un-due mess (I don't want the present to be a chore for anyone).

Smallish budget, £10 or £12.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

What about a good art book (for example The Works have several on fantasy drawing so figures, dragons etc.. or how to draw animals etc) and then a good set of pencils or pens and sketchpad?

Or The Works do a "studio" set with a wooden case, pens, pencils etc for about £10-12? That would have been my dream at 8, in fact.. still is at 43!! 😁

This is really lovely:

Quentin Blake drawing guide. Lots of creative challenges, tips and advice on good technique.

I would have loved this as an 8 year old!

A nice sketchbook, some pencils and some pastels.

I have got the works art case for a tenner as our dd loves drawing.

I've not opened it as it's wrapped in plastic, but pics look good.

A sketch book , a how to draw something he's interested in book and a set of graded sketching pencils eg hb to 6b - should be achievable in The Works Smile

Water colour set (41 pieces)

You could also buy water colour paper as well

My daughter loved this type of book at 8

Or try something new like watercolour brush pens?

Thanks all! I had never heard of The Works. It's a treasure trove.

I got him some nice pens and a book on how to draw comic strips.

I love it when kids love drawing, maybe because I did so much when I was little.
