Present for 5 (almost 6) year old DD?

Please help me! I almost feel like a shit mum for having zero idea what to get my daughter for Christmas this year!
Shes a happy go lucky little girls with varied interests. I always get her some books but beyond that, I'm stuck! She likes absolutely every single toy that is advertised on TV so I can't pinpoint one in particular to say "Oh Mini NavyGold will love that for Christmas".
Our circumstances have been a little tricky of late so whilst I don't want to over indulge her, I do want to spoil her a little bit for a change.
She's not a super girly princessy type, often plays with the boys more than the girls at school but I wouldn't call her tomboy either. She likes to be creative but she has a crap ton of arts and crafts stuff already. Shes also not hugely into one particular character like she was when she was younger (couldn't move in our house for Doc McStuffins stuff).

Any suggestions very much appreciated!

Budget?

Bike?
Dd(6) pretty much wants all the Playmobil stuff.

wendz86 · 28/11/2017 08:14

I’m getting my 6 year old dd a kindle fire , a couple of lol dolls , some Lego friends and books . Her grandparents are getting her the game bop it .

MatriarchalDreams · 28/11/2017 09:54

Like your DD my 5.5 year old is not very discerning and loves all the (mostly crap looking) toys she's seen. She'll get a few of the smaller ones from family but won't actually play with many of them so we're getting her a trampoline, she'll get lots of use out of that and will still be an exciting present for Christmas morning. She got a bike for her birthday. Have also got a new umbrella and might get a bed canopy and night light plus stocking fillers.

Thebluedog · 28/11/2017 09:55

I’m getting mine a Teska Dog

Snafflebrain · 28/11/2017 09:59

Dd is 5 and getting a camera as her main present this year. Boxed Games go down very well - especially the gross ones like doggy dog poo / gooey Louis (picking fake bogeys). I’ve drawn the line at the game with the fake pissing dog though! Playmobil is also very good and some of it doubles up as bath toys too now the baby bath toys have been outgrown.

HistoryMad · 28/11/2017 10:40

I would get her this world map:

www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/pre-school-and-electronic-learning/computer-based-learning/interactive-my-map-world-talking-poster/p/109975

(informative, educational and fun)

Zoesweet · 28/11/2017 10:57

A bike if she loves one. Depends on her hobbies or activities. Maybe a tab. You gotta ask her or know what she loves.

Drinaballerina · 28/11/2017 10:59

Our 6 year old dd is getting a kiddie superstar microphone.

HazeyBaubles · 28/11/2017 12:01

My 6 year old DD is getting mainly Sylvanian Families this year. Also books (Roald Dahl), games (guess who), Lego city, a LOL doll, jigsaw, some kiddie nail polish and lip balm, HAMA beads and top trumps.

AgnesBrownsCat · 28/11/2017 12:08

Something for outside so a scooter , bike , roller boots or swingball . A Lego /playmobil set , an art set(mosaics or sequins) and a set of books .

Letty7 · 28/11/2017 12:25

DD is 6 and likes - playmobil, sylvanaian, shopkins, pj masks, lol dolls, board games, kiddie make up like lip gloss and nail polish and books.

OwlKiss · 28/11/2017 12:37

I think you can't go wrong with Playmobil for that age group.
We have loads, and my DD really loves the horse sets, but I would also recommend the playground, the camper van and the swimming pool in particular.

domesticslattern · 28/11/2017 12:39

Lego
Playmobil
Can't really good wrong with either!

littlemisscomper · 28/11/2017 12:42

Playmobil is literally the best stuff ever!! When I rule the world I'm going to abolish all that tacky character crap and just have more Playmobil in its place. The great thing about it is that they can literally use the same sets for 6 or 7 years - it doesn't fall out of fashion.

steppemum · 28/11/2017 14:47

playmobile set, and then add some, so if you get a farm, add more animals, tractor etc.

sylvanians - depending on budget the car and caravan, or the house, plus a family of animals to go with it.

lego friends, my dd would die for the catamaran, but it is out of budget.

NavyGold · 28/11/2017 17:00

Sorry all, work took over my day
Thanks so much for your suggestions, seriously considering the Kindle Fire or the Camera.
I thought about a bike but she got a new scooter over the summer so I’ll hold out on that for now.
I hadn’t thought about playmobile, I’ll investigate and see if I can squeeze it in the budget too. Lots of Lego already but she’s older than when I first bought it for her so maybe a new kit with something specific to build.

Another one suggesting playmobil- DS has the pyramid which is very cool if you like Egypt and goes well with an Usbourne Look inside Egypt book.
He has asked for playmobil Caesar and Cleopatra and the cruise ship for Christmas. The hospital looks good too.

NavyGold · 29/11/2017 14:36

A question about the Kindle fire, is it worth getting. The kids edition? The normal one is £40 cheaper!

OP posts:
CappuccinoCake · 29/11/2017 14:38

Lego, baby Annabel, colour in unicorn cushion, books, new t set here.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 29/11/2017 15:47

my 5 year old loves the kindle fire - technology wise the normal one is exactly the same as the kids one. we have the regular one with a thick case on it.

other things she would like or likes

shopkins - Tesco had them on offer and argos had a big tube for 9.99

moana - she plays with the busy book all the time (along with the trolls one, my little pony and various Disney ones) she'd also like the dress up and singing necklace. we have the doll for her too.

fingerling - her sister got one on her birthday so this is high on her list!!

build a bear especially going into the shop as a treat

star light projector for her room

small animal figures - twozies, little pet shop, squinkies, pokemon figures etc

mermaid tail blanket

art tray - about £10 from argos. mine loves colouring on it, doing Lego etc.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 29/11/2017 15:49

oh and games - bugs in the kitchen, monopoly junior, game of life junior, top trumps, matching pairs.

BikeRunSki · 29/11/2017 21:05

The junior versions of Monopoly and Cluedo are very tedious. Dd (6) could handle the proper versions a couple of months before her 6th birthday.

NavyGold · 30/11/2017 04:12

@nocutsnobuttsnococonuts a fingerling is the only thing that shes been able to pinpoint the she actually wants! I've put it in my amazon basket, I think I'm going to go with the basic kindle fire too. Love the star light projector idea, I think she would like that.

jellyandsoup · 30/11/2017 04:20

My 5 year old has a kindle fire and it's fab. She has asked for Lego friends and a fingerling, she has also got some crafty bits and nerf gun (to shoot her big brother back!) coming her way.

NavyGold · 30/11/2017 06:41

@jellyandsoup, does she have the 7" screen one? I'm wondering if the screen might be a little small for DD. She's incredibly short sighted but shes fine with her classes on.
