My DS aged 8 has just discovered Pokemon. He likes collecting cards - he bought a pack of random mixed cards on ebay and a couple of packs of new cards. He loves the stats about the characters so we're thinking of getting him the Pokemon essential handbook but he has no idea how to actually play the game.
I've looked for a 'dummies guide' kind of book to get him started but am totally confused.
Can anyone please help me?!!

I would buy him one of the trading game starter packs, not that expensive but comes with a full deck to start playing and really easy step by step instructions and a game mat to show where to place the cards. He can then work on building up his own deck once he has the hang of it.

Meant to say, it's a two player game though so prepare to learn more about Pokemon stats than you ever thought you'd need!

My two started off with a kit like this, it's really cheap and gives them the general idea and then they can expand on that.

I would also maybe get him a Pokemon encyclopaedia, I saw one the other day in WH Smith's I think, that'll tell him all he needs to know about the different types and their abilities.

Hope that helps Smile (genuine, not sarcasm!)
