So far I've bought mine a washing basket with collapsible legs so neither of them have to bend down when pegging clothes on the line.

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 25/11/2017 23:37

I'm doing my dad a good bottle of red this year, and mum's asked for quirky/interesting photo frames.
Nice slippers sounds great.
Posh booze? Good glasses? Nearby hotel stay?

PickAChew · 25/11/2017 23:40

We agreed about a decade ago not to bother. We visit for new year and just take a carrier bag full of cakes and choccies for all of us. I don't even bother with wine, anymore, because mum has developed old lady taste in wine and doesn't drink much, these days, anyhow!

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/11/2017 23:42

I've got mine a voucher to do an escape room. Dd1 and I did one a couple of months ago and they were very jealous, so I thought I'd get them doing one too.

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2017 23:47

Mine are like yours OP, so if you don't mind I'm marking my place hoping for inspiration.

Mrsfloss · 26/11/2017 00:00

Thinking of a f and m hamper but not sure

Time with you.
E.g. day trip to Brighton to walk along sea front, eat fish and chips - homemade voucher and stick of rock
E.g picnic at local nature spot or heritage site - brochure and picnic ingredient like gherkins
E.g wine and cheese tasting evening at yours or theirs. Youd have to research it on internet.
E.g a trip to the dog races with you - entry and 10 flutter money.
E.g. tourist walking tour of a nearby town with you. I did this in my town. Was only 8 EURo a ticket and i learnt things i didnt know before.

My dads got literally everything but loves wildlife so this year I've got him a hedgehog house for his garden ! He's already got a nesting box and my sister has got him a camera to go inside it so he can watch the birds going in and out on his telly . Springwatch style ! 😊

Zampa · 26/11/2017 05:58

DP's parents have decided that they don't want stuff as they're going to die soon (they're 71!) so they're getting a magazine subscription!

Slartybartfast · 26/11/2017 08:29

A photo calender, I did last year and was very pleased with it, as I assume dm was Grin what's not to like
although I also got her a M& S fleece

Tour · 26/11/2017 08:34

I have bought mine tickets to see Birdsong at the theatre. Tough to buy for.

Justabadwife · 26/11/2017 08:36

My mum is a nightmare to buy for, because everything she wants she can buy herself, so she mentioned that she wanted a buffet food warmer as it would be good for xmas day. So we went shopping she chose one i paid :)

My dad is getting a new radio for the dining room, and a wasgij jigsaw.

Nanasueathome · 26/11/2017 08:36

There’s a thread about F&M hampers
The Christmas Eve one is gorgeous

allaboutthatsass · 26/11/2017 13:14

watching this as I'm stuck for things for my dad. They've just bought a new flat so I'm thinking of something for the flat (not furniture). He likes gadgets but not anything to do with cooking or cleaning (he's a man after all rolls eyes)
I got my mum some candles as the flat currently stinks of smoke from the previous owners.

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/11/2017 13:36

Theatre vouchers between them then a pair of earrings for my mum and whiskey for my dad

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2017 15:26

I decided a couple of years ago to keep it simple and buy variations on a theme every year. So:
dad gets a couple of books and some single malt
mum gets a couple of books, bubbly and posh chocs
It's stress free for me, and means I know they'll all get 'used' - I try to choose books that I think they'll like but are unlikely to have come across yet (as they tend to choose books from library, so not necessarily v recently out).

Jaimx86 · 26/11/2017 15:35

Dad- A new coat he chose himself, some wine and a wine guide.
Mum - Shoes, gym clothes, Estée Lauder skin products.

Madbengalmum · 26/11/2017 16:36

Mum, face cream/dvd player/chocs/dressing gown/perfume/soaps/some ornaments she wanted/calendar/facial voucher/mag subscription etc, etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2017 16:55

For any mums who like make up, the Estee Lauder Blockbuster gift set is really good value for money.

lorisparkle · 26/11/2017 17:12

Magazine subscriptions here as well!

Turquoisetamborine · 26/11/2017 17:28

I have two dads, a stepdad, one Mam, a stepmam plus my H’s Mam and his dad and his partner to buy for so don’t have much of a budget due to the number of them. I normally buy something like a bottle of champagne or gin between them if they are a couple. My dad is getting whiskey, a single malt one from Aldi which I’m hoping will be nice.

SloanePeterson · 26/11/2017 17:43

A Roberts Revival DAB radio. Great Black Friday discount in John Lewis meant it was almost half price. I love mine (I have several dotted around the house Blush) and I think it'll make a lovely gift, especially as they love gardening and it's good to use outdoors too.

BarchesterFlowers · 26/11/2017 18:40

Mine are in the same boat as yours OP, they buy whatever they want whenever they want it and insist that there isn't anything they want.

I have bought them the Hotel Chocolat dark chocolate collection box and a bottle of really nice wine.

They don't want 'things', their house is full, they don't want scarves etc., they have enough, their mobility isn't fantastic anymore so no tickets, memberships etc..

They will enjoy the chocolates and would never spend that sort of cash on chocolate.

goose1964 · 26/11/2017 18:54

I'm getting my dad some nice quality sacks. I have the same and they are so comfy and warm

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 26/11/2017 19:53

I'm getting my Nan a 6 month subscription to receive a bouquet of flowers once a month.
