Can I buy crackers without crappy landfill-ending gifts in them?

Just that. We like crackers. The silly hat, snap and joke are great and can all go in paper recycling. But the gifts are rubbish. Literally. Even if you spend a lot more and get mini screwdriver sets instead of plastic fake nails most still end up in a drawer/the bin eventually.

I've seen fill your own crackers but wondered if anywhere does crackers that contain the paper stuff but no plastic shite?

We bought fill your own ones from Ocado and I filled each one with a scratch card and alcohol miniature. There was a bit of swapping of prizes afterwards which was fine, but we had 3 winning scratchers out of 7.

One year I made my own crackers with a DIY kit I bought online. I printed out proper jokes from a jokes webpage and filled them with things I had gathered through the previous months for almost no money:
Sachets of beauty products or perfume samples from magazines or from freebie websites, tiny lipsticks that used to come for free with my Avon orders, pretty pendants or earrings won on eBay for pennies, wrapped chocolates and sweets...
It was fun and thrifty and everyone was pleased. I can't wait to do it again. I am looking at cheap joblots on eBay for things like lip glosses, scented wax melts... And this year I am going to add christmassy metallic confetti in the adult ones.
(Squeals with glee😁) x
