I have a nephew I need to buy for and not much experience! He will be around 14 months at Christmas. I would like to get something he can play with and enjoy that isn't loud and annoying!

I also might buy a book - so any good recommendations for one year olds greatly appreciated! Smile

Look at Julia Donaldson/ Nick Sharratt books and get a board book to withstand enthusiastic page turning 😁 also mega blocks!

Of all the things we bought DD for her first birthday the thing she loved the best (and her little brother now loves) is a quiet book.

It’s basically a fabric book with loads of different pages - her one has pages with a zip, a big chunky button, a strap, poppers and various other things. It’s quiet but has loads of different things to play with and is great tucked in a change bag for when out and about cause you can’t lose any bits!

The one we got was about the same price as this one but I can’t see if this one has a zip page (which was both my DC’s favourite first page pretty much as soon as they turned one!) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015P0K8M4/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_21_3?psc=1&dpPl=1&dpID=81WhXzd-9rL&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&refRID=PK2B848H7RAVCRVH4ZZA

GeekyWombat would this be the right kind of one?

It suggests some bits are detachable though.. I'm not sure if that's the same as your type. Some on amazon are sold out

This was the one we had www.amazon.co.uk/First-Activity-Book-Tango-Books/dp/1857077199?tag=mumsnetforum-21

It looks like it’s been republished with a slightly different cover by K’s Books.

Mine enjoyed putting things in and out of things at one. These are gorgeous:

Or this is much cheaper and still lots of fun:
