I want to make her a stocking up. So far i have:
A bottle of peach belling from lidl that she says she loves but can never find.
A box of loose tea as she has started using that instead if teabags.
An outlander calendar
A personalised keyring

I bought tom hanks book thinking it sounds good and is a but different to what she would normally read but the story seemed good only to discover its a book of short stories and she prob wont like it.
So need to change the book.
What else can I put in? Will spend up to another £20 or £30

Thanks

Are there any particular sweets or biscuits she likes? Maybe, I dunno, violet creams, shortbread (trying to think of edibles popular with the older generation!).

Would she wear a nice scarf or a warm pair of gloves? Though they're things that are probably gifted often to older people.

This will sound really random but in the past when I was buying for elderly relatives I found that gifts like a new bale of towels or a duvet set went down really well. Like I said random but a) quite a lot of that generation in my experience would see these as lovely gifts but wouldn't indulge themselves and b) these are bulky, awkward to carry items if a person is maybe less mobile. She could of course be as sprightly as a 25 year old but maybe something to think about.

A mug, or china cup and saucer. Probably fit in a stocking!
A fancy tea strainer. I have bought DD a manatee one for her stocking, she has an Alice in Wonderland one at the moment, so loads of choice on design!
Lip balm.
A pretty coaster.
A magazine, or crossword puzzle/word search book.
A lottery ticket.
Bed socks.
Hand cream.

My old mom has asked for thermal vests.

A touched up photo with all their relatives but not the ones who are only there by marriage. That's what my MIL would like.

It's interesting that I can sneer my lip on the left hand side but If I try to the right there's no sneer.

I've got our 92 year old nan a photo fleece blanket. It holds up to 50 photos and will keep her warm. Saw an offer on Groupon today for one too

Nice food- fancy jams or marmalades, 'luxury' soups like Royal Game, fancy biscuits for tea?

I used to go to Dobbies food hall and buy lots of frivolous, lovely treat food to make a hamper up for my gran, always went down a treat.

Does she go to the hairdresser? I know loads of elderly ladies who go and have their hair done for them as it's too much for them to manage on their own... so if so, what about a voucher to her hairdresser?

Or a voucher for a hairdresser to come to her home?

Go to her bathroom, see which products she uses, then buy her some more :)

How about one of those boxes with ore planted bulbs in them? I've got these for my Granny in the past and they've been well received.

Or how about a photo frame with pictures of the family?

Nice handcream?

Does she write to people? Maybe some nice writing paper?

Diary? Calendar?

Oldieandgoldie · 15/11/2017 18:04

Lindt chocolate Santa, scented drawer liners, m&s jug with bulbs in, one of those tiny ‘music box’ type things from Hawkins Bazaar, joke tissues like £5 notes, small picture book about her local area years ago, posh scented hand creams, a gentle facepack, lightweight scarf...

But I do like the idea of a photo fleece blanket. Smile

She loves biscuits and sweets so will get her some for the stocking.

The hairdresser voucher is good, she does go to one religiously!
