HELP! I need two 1.2l lidded pudding basins for my Xmas puddings.
I cannot easily get into a Lakeland shop or any big dept store.

Theres loads on amazon? Or do it the way it used to be done by making your own lid out of greaseproof paper and string!

Can you not buy some that are currently full of Christmas puddings, eat them and then use the basins?

My local supermarket has sticky toffee and chocolate puddings on sale too, if eating Christmas pudding before the big day would be too sacriligeous.

You don't need lids! Make one out of foil, with a pleat to allow for expansion, and tie it on with string - make a string handle too, for ease of lifting in and out. V easy.

That's for ordinary earthenware pudding basins, BTW. I've been making my puds with these and foil lids for years.

You don’t need pudding basins with lids. You can make your own lifs. You just tie some great proof paper and foil over the top with string like people have done for the last 500 years*

*maybe out by +/- 100 years or so.

Thanks. Yes, I suppose the lids weren't the essential bit, but I did need the basins.

I think the ones with lids are genius, I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds tying the string tight enough difficult, especially with the handle
